Is there a member or thread or forum or website that has detailed information about various 2nd edition printings? Thanks!

I've finally finished selling all mine, but I still have some knowledge that hasn't totally disappeared.  If there are specific items, just post your questions!

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

Ok. To start:

How many different printings of the Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide were there? I know there are two distinct covers, the earlier warrior on the horse and the latter barbarian with the black border. How many different printings were there? Are the printings noted near the copyright date?

For the DMG, there were two different wizard/dragon covers (one which DMG was written in all caps, one which was not) and the latter black border. Same question as above.

Monstrous Compendium. I am aware of Vol I having two printings, earlier with one of the monster sheets misprinted where the first part was printed twice (on the back page by mistake). The Vampire if I am not mistaken. Any other differences? What about the other MC volumes? Were there different printings as well?

Thanks!

There were lots.  Yes 2 distinct covers of each but also a number of different prints for each cover.  The common differences are:
* different logos
* different prices on the back - Canada and UK prices changed a fair bit in that period due to currency fluctuations
* Capitalization of the Title

Here's my current shelf - all are different prints.  I was keeping the different prints I came across for a while then stopped and have sold a couple off.  But it gives you an idea.  For the Monstrous Compendium I, there are at least 4 prints of the 1st binder.

Wow, I had no idea there were so many printings. Now I have several questions....

So is there any difference between the earlier version Player's Handbooks that have the white "TSR" on the black field logo on the spine? Any difference between the Player's Handbooks with the TSR on the gold field logo in the spine? Or the same with different printing numbers?

Same quesiton for the earlier print DMGs and Tome of Magic

Do the FR adventures and Legends & Lore have different printings?

What are the differences in the MC1 appendic printings?

There may have been some errata incorporated as time went on but I think the takeaway is that there are many printings but minimal difference between printings except for things that Mars pointed out (logos, price, font, etc). I don't recall any differences in my Player's Handbook with different TSR logos for example. The AD&D prints without the 2nd edition title are technically "revised" although again I think it was mostly errata, but someone else will know for sure.

There is an ancient thread where we hashed some of this out...

Ah, here we go: 2nd Edition printings

Plaag and I started dissecting MC1 details deep into the thread (exciting stuff - we're fun at parties too).
