Aaron Allston died at VisionCon in Branson, Missouri yesterday (2/27/14) at the very young age of 53. He was born in Texas and was a life-long Texan, someone I was looking to have as a guest at NTRPG con in the future:

Although mostly known for his Star Wars work, he had a few TSR/D&D bullet points: Gaz1 Grand Duchy of Karamiekos, Gaz 6 Dwarves of Rockholme, Hollow World Campaign Set, Mark of Amber, Dawn of the Emperor, Poor Wizard's Almanac, Wrath of the Immortals (all for Mystara); also Dungeon Masters Design Kit, N4 Treasure Hunt, X12 Skarda's Mirror, Complete Fighters, Priest and Ninja Handbook, I Tyrant (book on Beholders), and of course compiling the D&D Rules Cyclopedia. Also lots of work with GURPS and other systems I'm not as familiar with...

I received an email last night from a mutual friend. This is simply tragic. Aaron was very influential and great human being. His love of RPGs and passion is clearly reflected in his works. It has been too long since I talked to him. He will be deeply missed.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

We got to meet Aaron a few years back at GenCon. He was at the local Star Wars ST chapter booth which was right next to ours. They were raising money to help pay some medical bills from a recent heart attack. He was a really nice guy to talk to. Sad to hear about his passing.

That is a real shame. Young age to go. And a great rpg author his Champions (still looking for another copy of Strike Force) and D&D stuff was great.
