DA5 Monster & Treasure: Level Five Assortment is now available for purchase at pacesettergames.com and drivthrurpg.com. Pacesetter will provide a FREE pdf with each purchase of this new dungeon accessory.

This product is the fifth in Pacesetter's exciting new Dungeon Accessory series. DA5 features 100 monster and treasure listings that can be used to fill any third level dungeon. Also, the book contains a complete sample dungeon with 39 detailed encounters drawn directly from the accessory.

Also, DA5 introduces five new magic items including the deadly javelin of the vampire, ring mail of the black dragon and more! There is still more. Starting with DA5, each new M&T Assortment will include an all-new, never-seen-before monster! This supplement introduces the deadly Automaton!

When complete, there will be nine DA products that cover levels one through nine. Each book will contain a fully-stocked sample dungeon that is connected to the others in the series. Therefore, the series will combine to make a mega nine-level dungeon crawl.

From the cover:
The door crashes open and you find yourself in a dark room. Dim torch light casts shadows over the dark form of a wraith standing before an iron chest bursting with gold! With a blood-chilling hiss, the creature flies forward...
In its most basic form, the dungeon crawl is a list of monsters and treasures. Throw in a map and you have all the ingredients necessary to play for hours. This product gives you the tools to easily and quickly build a fifth level dungeon crawl.
Still need more? A complete fifth level dungeon crawl is included with a keyed map filled with encounters.
Here is your chance to relive the golden age of gaming.

DA5 Monster & Treasure is an accessory designed for use with the First Edition Advanced rules and is compatible with the OSRICâ„¢ rules system.

Bill,

Tell me about your Q and I series modules.
I rarely have a chance to play 1E, and when I do my only player is my 13-year-old son.
I've been curious if there are any good modules out there for one player and a DM.

Thanks,
Keith

Keith,
Rather than let me drone on, I have pulled some links to threads that specifically deal with these books. You will find reviews from others.

Pacesetter Games DA Series Monster/Treasure

I1 -- Grave of the Green Flame | tenfootpole.org
As far as Q-series adventures, they are shorter one or two session adventures. Q4 is designed for one player and one  DM (although it can be easily played traditionally).

Q1 -- The Screaming Temple | tenfootpole.org

Q2 -- Eruptor's Vengeance | tenfootpole.org

Q3 -- Death on Signal Island | tenfootpole.org

Q4 -- The Final Chapter | tenfootpole.org

Keith,

I bought a handful of Bill's mods at GenCon this year - all of them are very playable and well designed - but the one that stands out to me the most is Q1 because it is one of the best covers I've ever seen.   Yes, I buy books for the cover sometimes.  ;-)

Sentimentally, The Thing in the Valley cover will always be my favorite, but The Screaming Temple illustration is Nathan's best. Here it is in color. You will see it soon as The Screaming Temple is undergoing expansion and revision for DCC release.

If I'm truly honest with myself I often like the cover art of science fiction novels better than the novels themselves.  :)

I'm definitely a content over cover kind of guy (some of my favorite books have a weak cover and almost no interior illustrations).  But this cover just spoke to me.  Bill told me an interesting story about it (that I'll let him tell) which made the cover even more appealing.

I wanted to take a minute and add some description to the DA series. The entire series will include levels 1 - 9. Like the original TSR Monster & Treasure Assortment, each supplement includes a list of 100 monsters and 100 treasures (use percentile dice to fill your dungeon or generate wandering monsters. Each monster entry is fully stat blocked to include experience values and THACO. Additionally, there are charts for traps, monster reaction, treasure containers, and more. Each entry includes a fully-described and keyed "sample" dungeon. The dungeons are connected. Each level has 48-65 keyed encounters using the monsters and treasures included in that supplement. None of that is particularly new information, but I hope it better explains what you get.
What I have never really stated is that each sample dungeon gets more detailed and challenging as the levels escalate. DA1 has a sample dungeon that is not much more than a monster hotel. There is some minor detail in each room, but I will be the first to say it is not very difficult or complicated. However, as the DA series progresses the sample dungeons do get more dangerous and complicated - not only due to the tougher monsters, but much more "color" has been added. Motivations are presented as well as schemes and rational are more evident. Every monster has a reason to be where it is. There are factions, secret pacts, secret chambers, forgotten vaults, ancient ruins, etc.  There are connections between levels - beyond the architecture, but creature affiliations, machinations and plots.
Lastly, with DA5, there are new magic items and a new monster. With DA1, you have an introductory supplement and adventure for first level characters, and possibly, novice players. By the time DA9 arrives, even the most veteran player will be challenged [or so I hope ;)].

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!
