In some minds, OD&D and 1st edition are different.I'd put the dividing line at 1982/83, with not-old-school beginning at the orange-spine, 1st-edition AD&D books, Dragonlance novels, & cartoons. Anything with a KG/lizard/wizard/face logo is old school.
