For a number of years a couple of die hard Greyhawk enthusiasts have mulled over the crucial question of which real beers would best fit with beer in Greyhwawk. Many Greyhawk campaigns I've been involved with have featured raucous taverns in which beers, stouts and lagers have been quaffed, and in the true spirit of authentic immersion in the milieu the players have queried: what does A or B taste like?

Well, I thought where else to garner opinion from the educated gaming masses than this esteemed forum.

As a starter I had always considered the followers of St Cuthbert (often a tad miserable and pedantic) may be suffering from that particular hang-over that follows too much Chimay. I always thought that a silent back-office order of clerics peacefully brewing hoppy goodness added gaming attraction to the austere frontmen.

So St Cuthbert's temples & retreats may provide a network producing abbey beers equivalent to trappist beers.

Just a thought. Clearly requires considerable field research. All thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I always thought hobbits/halfings would brew an ale like Copper Dragon's Golden Pippin.

I believe a Abbey Ale or Three Philosopher's from Ommegang suits.  After all, they also brew the Game of Thrones ale.
