Do you mind if I snag your Black Blade booth pics to repost on Facebook?  I brought my camera this year, but didn't take a single picture the entire con!  

Here are some of the photos I took at Gary Con this year.

First, for those who are wondering:  yes, there is in fact a Lake Geneva.



A shot of some of the hotel grounds.  No, this time of year the pool doesn't see much use.



I took this picture from the back of the hotel.  That's actually Lake Como, a smaller lake to the west of Lake Geneva proper.  (We midwesterners do like to name our lakes after famous lakes in Europe, I guess.)



The convention doubled the space devoted to exhibitor booths this year.  Another picture of the Pacesetter booth, with Bill Barsh and Steve Sullivan.



Here's the OSR booth.  No one was home, since Grodog was probably running an event at the time.  That's some of Ian Baggley's original artwork on the right, from AS&SH (the North Wind Adventures booth was just to the right).



This is the Eldritch Enterprises booth.  That's Dave Peterson, a real nice guy and the artist for a number of the covers and interiors in the Eldritch modules.



This is the North Wind Adventures booth.  Ian Baggley is on the left, Jeff Talanian is third and Luke Gygax on the right.  I'm not sure who the other fellow is.



HackMaster had a booth in a separate area, with Jolly himself presiding.



It wouldn't be Gary Con without a Jousting Tourney.

This is Jeff Talanian, running an AS&SH adventure.  Grodog is in the middle seat with his back to the camera.



I played in seven games over the weekend, but didn't always remember to take pictures.  Here's the ones where I did.

Rob Kuntz, running the City of the Elders.



Ernie Gygax, running his original dungeon (which he is working on publishing).  That's stratochamp opposite, next to Ernie, and a burntwire on the left.



Jeff Talanian, running Castle Zagyg for the first time since Gary's passing.  There's stratochamp again, and Guy Fullerton in the blue and white sweatshirt.



Jeff doesn't like to be thirsty while he's DMing.  Several pitchers were imbibed that evening.  Me, I just drank a pot of coffee.



Some shots from the auction next.  First up is Luke, who kicked things off.



This year, the proceeds from the auction went to a trust fund set up for Ernie, since he lost his home to a fire a few weeks ago.  Here are the two brothers.



Frank had his usual role, selling most of the items in the auction.  No, not her.



Tim was also there, though he had to leave part way through for an event.  Here he's selling a Snit's Revenge.



As always, an incredible time was had by all.  Thanks to everyone who helped make Gary Con a success, so the rest of us can just enjoy it.

Special thanks to all of my Legends of Wargaming VIP referees: Tim Kask (Classic Warfare), John Bobek (Action on the High Seas, Little Wars), Bill Hoyer (Diplomacy, Sturmgeschutz & Sorcery), Jim Ward (Sturmgeschutz & Sorcery), Jon Pickens (Remagen Bridge), David Megarry (Dungeon!), Mike Reese (Tractics), Mike Carr (Fight in the Skies, Don't Give Up the Ship, Giant Le Mans), and Michael Mornard (Chainmail).

We had an amazing line up of games (20 in all!) and an amazing turn-out for players - nearly 300 convention participants played in Legends of Wargaming events!

Extra special thanks to Mike Reese (co-author of Tractics)! In the crush of new events for this year the all of the infantry and much of the equipment for Tractics and Remagen Bridge still needed assembly. Mike sat down with modeling supplies and proceeded to put together dozens of tank, artillery, and infantry models. (If you can picture the characters from The Matrix using their superhuman movement speed to assemble plastic models then you have it.) He had a great time talking tanks and the old days with Ernie Gygax, Michael Mornard, Rob Kuntz, Bill Hoyer, and John Bobek. Great to see old friends get together.

The Jousting Tourney was better than ever with participants from 6 to 76 years old. Nearly one hundred knights participated with the Red Knight Champion being Harry Maltsby and the Black Knight Champion (only Gygax family, TSR folks, or Gary's gaming buddies from the 60s and 70s) was Mike Gygax (Heidi's son). The Gygax family turned out in raucous numbers as has become a tradition with them and the joust was on. Cheers for Sir Mike and Jeers for Prince Harry (Sir Harry didn't seem right to this herald) was the course of the match until Harry's supporters chimed in at the close match. A well ridden championship ended up with a close victory for Prince Harry and a very honorable Black Knight Sir Mike. In the end, all cheered as the trophy helm was passed from two former tourney champions, and Black Knights, Luke Gygax and Jon Pickens (TSR).
