Unpleasant news on the gaming front----Just a few hours ago, Ernie Gygax lost everything he owned but his dog when his apartment burned down. Ernie is OK, the dog is OK and the roommate is OK. Everything appears to be a total loss.Gygax Magazine and his friends and family are rallying around for him. I will keep everyone informed as I know it. We are already discussing schemes and stratagems for helping him back onto his feet.

Especially in the case of unique dungeon memorabilia that shows the history of the game. It would be a shame to lose some manuscripts or dungeon levels that don't exist anywhere else, future generations of gamers will thank you! (Not that I have anything that unique, but I do have a backup hard drive of my computer contents at my brother's house).

I've also been meaning to investigate a safety-deposit box for the original mss. too (but haven't gotten to that either). Fortunately the unique stuff I have has already been scanned or copied in several cases, although not all of it.... Something to work on this year, for sure!

So if you own baseball cards, or D&D books or figurines or comics or any other books etc, i.e. basically all the stuff you have lying around that isn't a major appliance or furniture then the most the insurance company would give you is $1500 total.

PDT_Armataz_01_34 My collection is covered separately on my homeowner's insurance. Cost me an extra $100/year for my D&D stuff, but clearly worth it...
