I'm copying over what I just posted on the Holmes Basic forum on OD&D Discussion:
It's amazing - I had never heard anything about it before & assumed it had been lost forever.

It looks like the art work has slipped a bit in the frame, but Steve wrote that "I'm pretty sure it's going to get a beauty treatment (new frame, protective glass, etc.) and hang in the gallery by DnD R&D."

Agreed. One of the most iconic pieces of D&D art and nobody knew they had it? How many years ago did they acquire TSR? It is just unbelievable that no one has gone through the storage units/warehouse/whatever. Or maybe they have no idea what they are looking at. Or they just don't really care.

Brilliant idea. Here's another - a collection of D&D art from 1971-82, with this on the cover. The text is similar to a condensed version of the Silver Anniversary set:
Holmes, stripped down to its bare functional essentials & then padded with interesting bits of Gygaxian prose. The modules are also stripped down to their most interesting encounters, occupying a few pages each.
Example: The map & cover to the Greyhawk folio is reproduced with a small amount of text from the folio booklet. These elements are together with Gygax's original great kingdom map from DB, & his discussions of urban encounters in the DMG, as well as descriptions of the Greyhawk dungeons. Arneson's Blackmoor & Vicinity map is with some of his descriptions of the campaign from FFC or CotT.
As this collection is aimed at an older audience than are products of the general line, illustrations of the amazon, various succubi, Lovitar, the full-frontal vampiress from D3, &cetera, are reproduced unexpurgated.
