I specifically asked the seller to PUT IT IN A BOX with a lot of packing.  I offered to pay extra for shipping.  I very politely pointed out that all of his disclaimers about buyer paying for shipping, no returns, etc., were questionable, and it might be good to go read eBay seller policy.  I was extremely polite.  It arrived today.  In a bubble mailer.  Crushed to all hell.

It's not worth the effort to return.  And even beat up, I could probably resell it for a small loss.  But if it had existed in that condition before shipping, I wouldn't have even bid on it.  I am getting so tired of seeing items show up in crappy packaging, damaged from mishandling.  Worse, a little part of me cries on the inside because that is 1 less of that specific item in the world that now exists in NM condition.  I'm debating just dropping a negative without waiting for the seller to respond to my complaint.  In fact, I might just start doing that on general principle.  I had another seller put $200 worth of modules in NM/M condition into a priority mail box with no padding.  Same results.  Corners all banged up.

I think there was a thread about this before, so I apologize, but ()@*%(&@*()#%&*()@#%&*()@#&%*(@&#%*()@&#%*()@&#%*(@#%#% HOW HARD IS IT TO PUT SOMETHING IN A BOX and make sure it has padding?

Yeah I would definitely just file the complaint thru ebay/paypal to get your money back. No need for you to eat the cost on this.

I dunno if its Murphy's Law or what, but I regularly buy cheap-o stuff from a few sellers in Canada, and things take forever to get here, and they arrive perfectly.  Like, costs more to ship than the actual items.  Buy stuff thats like 1 state away and I get pulp.  ()@#*%@#%.

Always ship in a box. Always put paper products in a sealed plastic bag inside the box. Always pad whatever is inside the box so that the item is protected.

The USPS is not your friend. Always prepare your package knowing there is a decent chance it will be dropped, kicked, sat on or run over. Always use tracking. The USPS takes marginally better care of tracked packages than untracked packages. Tracked packages give me as the seller the illusion that I know where the packages is and when it is delivered. Tracked packages give me as the buyer the illusion that I know the package has been sent and when it will be delivered.

If anyone is looking at some of the minty items up for bids from mrsgilbert2013, beware.  I specifically asked for box, cardboard, and padding.  Seller agreed.  And then shipped in a flimsy bubble envelope anyway.  When I contacted to ask what happened (since I was looking at a couple other items as well) I got told to "go shop somewhere else".

I've worked for UPS; believe me, I know what happens to packages. We used to try tossing them into "the wall" and seeing if we could get them in in a single try. Any time I ship something I have my wife pack it. She armors the things.
AFAIR the only one I ever lost was a DG that got soaked, many many years ago.

From past experience my roommate and I once caught our UPS guy hucking our packages -- from street level -- up onto our 2nd floor balcony over a railing/doing a bank shot against a wall when he didn't think we were home. It was too much trouble for him to take the package back and put a card/sticker in the mail box about a package that needed to be picked up or re-delivered or "sorry we missed you", etc. This was NOT a one time occurrence either, just that we finally caught him.

I had an experience today at USPS. Let this be a warning to anyone thinking that all the USPS employees have the utmost respect for your packages, especially the guys in the back that you almost never see. Don't trust them ever.
Today I dropped off two large, heavy boxes to be shipped internationally. When I say heavy, one was 44lbs and the other was 66lbs. The girl at the counter was not strong enough to lift the boxes, so I put them on the scale for her and when she was done, she accompanied me to the back room where I put the boxes down. They have this tall metal rolling cage/bin for international parcels and the cage was filled with other people's letters and small packages. There was a guy in the back who finally came around to handle the heavier lifting. Both the girl and I told him that these were extremely heavy boxes for international. I said I didn't want my boxes to crush everyone else's packages already in the bin (it was filled almost to the top). I even repeated it when it seemed as if he didn't hear me. His response "those things are going to get crushed anyways" and my boxes were then stuck on top of all these other small packages. I wasn't worried about how I packed my boxes because they were done well, but I was really worried about everyone else's stuff. These people just don't care.

That reminds me too, whenever I receive an envelope with the words stamped "DO NOT BEND" and the package actually hasn't been bent, I realize how it was just sheer luck the envelope wasn't bent. You can pretty much guarantee few will ever read any words on your envelope other than the address.

All the bad USPS memories I have are suddenly coming back...I'm remembering some years ago about finding crumpled up letters in my apartment mail box. The USPS delivery person didn't like the small mailboxes we had at our apartment complex, so literally -- and I kid you not -- he would crumple up my mail into a ball and shove it all in. (The entire front of the mailbox thing for the small number of apartments had to be opened and lifted up, so he was not sliding any mail through a slot). So I'd open up my mailbox and have many balled up envelopes. I had to complain many many times at the post office about this.
