Wizards of the Coast is reprinting "premium" versions of the core Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition rulebooks. They will be released on May 21, 2013.

Artwork from 1989 version or 1995, I wonder? I hope the first, but that's probably too much to ask....

Hmm, I don't feel the same rush of nostalgia, but will probably pick them up

Fwiw, I'm noticing the 1E reprints & 3.5 reprints remaining on gamestore shelves, the 1E Players Handbook is the only one I don't always see...

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

What does the "premium" moniker entail? I have my 2nd edition set (1989 printing, not the black ones), but if they're worth it, I might snag a set, as well.

They get to charge you a premium to rebuy stuff you already have.

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

I would guess they'd reprint the original versions of the 2e books and not the black cover revised ones if they're aiming for the nostalgia factor. I'm going to skip all the rest of these re-releases anyways, even the Unearthed Arcana.

shooting fish in a barrel then, WOTC should have done this years ago - who on this forum hasn't got a duplicate of at least one item? And who hasn't paid over the odds for an item they don't need and will never use? (I'm certainly guilty on both counts and I don't even consider myself a real collector)/

And FWIW I just got the 3 AD&D reprints and I haven't been more excited by an item in years - literally like being a kid at Christmas

(And I've only cracked the shrink off the DMG so far - I am actually saving the other two until I'm ready to extend the pleasure - sad but true!!)

You can never have too much of something you didn't need in the first place.
