Truth be told, it doesnt do a whole lot for me.  Most of these games are Japanese or European releases.  So unless you know how to speak Japanese or have a JAP to ENG converter for each game system (which a lot of older ones dont have) you are going to have some problems with the language barrier.  Then there is the issue with the older European PAL systems not working on North American NTSC televisions.  The newer PAL games will work on the newer systems but only if you have them hooked up to HDTV's running 720p or higher and I'm pretty sure you can still run into glitches.

Still, pretty amazing collection even if a lot of the stuff is relatively common in the Euro-Asian markets and only rare in the U.S.  I did notice a few rarities that I am familiar with.  The Nintendo 64DD had such a small release that it was practically a prototype.  One of the rarest game devices created as an add-on for the Nintendo 64.  It is basically a disk drive kind of like the old Zip or Jazz drives.  Lots of space to store large games that wouldnt fit on the normal cartridges.  The Pioneer Laseractive was also very rare being that it was created to be a multimedia/videogame/learning hybrid that ended up being too expensive for most families to own and thus sat on store shelves unsold and only a handful of games were released for it apparently.  The Sega Saturn complete set is pretty awesome simply because a lot of the games near the end of its lifespan are extremely rare and very hard to find (at least in the U.S.).

I still kick myself every other day for a Craigslist video game ad I didnt snatch up back in late 2008.  A guy in Plano was selling off his video game collection that included every U.S. released video game system from the original Odyssey to the X-Box (this includes every Atari, Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, and other one off game systems like the Colecovision, Intellivision, 3DO, Vectrex, etc.) and a handful of Japanese systems.  He also had, and these are his words, approximately 75% of the games made for each of the systems that included the boxes, instructions, etc all in excellent condition.  Some were still even in the shrinkwrap.  He put about 15 pictures on the ad and the collection was simply incredible.  I told my wife about it and she actually told me that if I wanted it that badly that I should get it.  But I was planning to go to Gen Con again in 2009 and she told me that I couldnt have both.  I mulled it over for about half an hour and by the time I decided to go for the video games, someone had already bought it.  What really sucks is I didnt get to go to Gen Con that year anyway.

The price for the video game collection?  $2000.

That collection was pretty cool. I didn't look too close at it, but the picture seemed most impressive.

I am a former video game collector (worked as a district manager for Game Crazy stores, so it came with the territory). I love old systems and I have lots of them. If anyone here ever felt the needed an old system I have quite a few and tons of games to boot, I would be willing to trade for for OOP RPG stuff. PM me if interested.
