I thought this might be a fun topic (albiet a bit off topic), I am a movie guy, who enjoys the mental gymnastics of ranking movies into top five's... I would be interested in hearing of other movies I could netflix. Remember, these movies are ranked on enjoyability not neccessarily quality of plot, acting, etc.

Top 5 Favorite General

Terminator
Jaws
Aliens (with an S)
Matrix
Pulp Fiction

Top Five Favorite Comedies

40 Year Old Virgin
Tommy Boy
Hangover
Monty Python Holy Grail --------- Edit Brain Cramp
Zombieland

Top Five War Movies

Saving Private Ryan
We were Soldiers Once
Patriot
Gladiator (squeezed this one in the war category)

Fantasy/Sci-Fi

Star Wars Empire Strikes Back
Star Trek Wraith of Khan
Silent Running
District 9
Blade Runner

Top 5 Guy Movies

Top Gun
Hunt For Red October

Fight Club
Die Hard

Top 5 Comic Book Based

Just thought this would be fun...  PDT_Armataz_01_03

I am a huge movie buff. Difficult for me to select a few favorites because there are so many! But:

All-time: Forrest Gump

Thriller/Suspense: Alien (without the S)

Action: Shogun Assassin, Excalibur

War: Full Metal Jacket

Comedy: Airplane!

Serials: Indiana Jones, Star Wars, LOTR, The Godfather

ANYTHING by Clint Eastwood (yes, including Any Which Way but Loose and company)

and: I like...Conan the Barbarian starring The Governator. I was a kid when it came out, I hadn't read Howard, and it defined D&D for me. Smite me at will!!

There are probably others, but these come to mind readily. I like a lot of yours, too.

Hector.

Conan was in my top 5 for the longest time... but needed room for Matrix and Pulp fiction something had to go.... Forrest Gump is classic but can't categorize it... Some honorable mention: Slumdog Millionaire, Rob Roy (came out same year as Braveheart) and should have won Movie of the Year IMHO, Strange Brew.

The oldies tend to get bumped as time goes by... for instance Saving Private Ryan changed everything in the war movie category for me... My Favorite War Movies pre Saving Private Ryan are:

The Battle for the Bulge
A Bridge Too Far
Platoon
Apacalypse Now
Das Boot

I did edit the Comedy Category Monty Python is absolutely there... just had a brain cramp.... Lets say pre Tommy Boy Comedies would be:

Caddyshack (try golfing without at some point saying a quote from this movie... its impossible)
Stripes (or is this a war movie  PDT_Armataz_01_01 )
Strange Brew
Monty Python Holy Grail
Animal House

I am older than I look  8)
