What's the difference between the numbered copies of The Stalk (i.e., "x/300", signed in black ink), the lettered copies (i.e., "Y", signed in gold ink), and the numbered author's copies (i.e., "Author's #x", signed in gold ink)?

No idea.
I did think there were copies with green covers that had facsimiles of the original map and notes at the back, and other copies with a white cover whick I didn't think had the facsimilies with them. Mine are numbered and signed in black ink on the front of green covers, but nothing to say out of how many copies.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

My copies all match this description exactly.

While we are at it...
Daemonic & Arcane:
Red Cover numbered/signed; Black Ink with (zerox) handwritten notes (2 pages).
Includes a certificate of authenticty that is also numbered/signed in black ink.
But this was a package deal that came with El Raja Key's Arcane Treasury
Deluxe Edition - Signed and Numbered out of 200.
(Paper was labeled Signature and Bio sheet and was Signed by Rob Kuntz and Eric Shook, D&A was signed only by Rob)

Generally there is no difference except for the signature and cosmetic differences.  Bottle City (the limited edition had the larger maps) is the only PPP item I believe actually offered something different, that was the $250 version vs the regularly priced version.  For instance, the signed and numbered copies of the original Bottle City, the author's copies, and the regular copies, are all identical.

I seem to recall the differences had something to do with a donor program in the case of the lettered copies...sheesh, it hasn't been all that long ago and I can hardly remember the details.  Maybe I'm thinking of one of Rob's other projects (wherein we were acknowledged for our donations).

That's been dead a long time.

As Badmike mentioned, that was what happened with Bottle City.  I dont recall anything like that happening with any of his later releases.

Yep, and that's the Perlman PHB in my right, at Gencon 2008...

Indeed.  Does that mean Rob has given up developing products?

I hope not.
I'd still like to read a biopic of playing and working with TSR.

If his recent blog entries are any indication, I'd say yes.
http://lordofthegreendragons.blogspot.com/

Either that or his core interest has moved away from Fantasy Role-Playing to something like Conspiracy X or Over The Edge.  8O

I did see that.  Most of it went over my head.  May have something to do with not living in the US and being immersed in US politics.

In any case my favourite comment on the site was this ....

Philberto wrote:Man, has this blog degenerated from a great gaming focused site that threw in cool and interesting non-gaming topics to one that seems more focused on pontificating, name calling, doom pronouncing, and general high-horse surliness (putting things too nicely). It's not my blog, so you will do what you will of course. But I'm out. There is too much of this kind of crap in every other form of media out there. Sorry to see such discourse in this once great forum.

The only "difference" in the various copies I think is Rob's way to say some are more "rare" than others.

He held back copies that he called "author's copies", that he later sold at times for more $$$ since they were "author's copies", so they were lettered instead of numbers, signed in gold ink vs black. Maybe even given to friends or otherwise.

As for the site: http://www.pied-piper-publishing.com

It expired, so I bought it... hoping to see something done with it at some point.

I probably should point it somewhere, but just haven't messed with it... I basically wanted to be sure Rob still got emails at rjk@pied-piper-publishing.com (which he still does since I have it forwarded to his current address).

In any case, that's the story on that.

He let it lapse?  Well that tells me a lot about his state of mind and, sadly, doesn't bode well for additional material being produced.

I know how Rob can change at times, so when I saw it expire I wanted to be sure it wasn't gone for good in case he changed his mind later.

I have spoken with him since that time, and I don't know all the details, but if/when he publishes anything else, it will be under a different name I think. So trying to "save" the domain name wasn't really needed thus why I haven't done anything with it.

I would like to at least have some links to PDFs and the like that were available at one time, again just haven't had time to mess with it.

Just when he had figured out how to get someone else to do the distribution, so new items wouldn't have to arrive full of cigarette stank.  Too bad.
