Gary Con IV is about three and a half weeks away.  Last year I went up just for the auction.  This year, I'm going to be arriving Wednesday night, and staying the whole weekend.   :D

I know Tim and Frank will be there, of course.  And stratochamp will be up there for part of the weekend.  Who else?

I will be there Wednesday night as well. It will be my very first non-video game convention. I am getting really pumped up.

I found yesterday that I'll be able to attend as well, and my events were just added to the catalog (today's the last day to prereg), in case anyone's interested in playing:

Event Title: grodog's Castle Greyhawk
Event ID: 112602
DM Name: Allan Grohe
Game Type: Role-Playing Game
Game System: AD&D (First Edition)
Day: Thursday
Start Time: Noon
Duration: 6 hours
Experience: Expert
Maximum Players: 10

Description: Explore grodog's version of Castle Greyhawk: will you seek Kuroth's Quill in the Halls of the Iron Golems, or plumb the depths of the Waterworks seeking The Black Reservoir? Will you attempt the Iounic Caverns to recover the Ring of Gaxx, or assault the Heretical Temple of Wee Jas? Or delve elsewhere? You decide! Bring your graph paper, dice, and a healthy dose of paranoid courage! 6th-10th level pregen PCs will be provided. == Note to Chris: I have 10-12 players (I bring 12 pregen PCs to try to accommodate overflow), so I'll need two long tables, two short tables (endcaps), and ~14 chairs.

Event Title: Aliens: Rescue Newt
Event ID: 214501
DM Name: Allan Grohe
Game Type: Miniature / War Game
Game System: Other
Day: Friday
Start Time: 2:00pm
Duration: 4.5 hours

Maximum Players: 15

Description: While the Colonial Marines have been searching Hadley's Hope, Newt was captured by the Aliens! Ripley's leading Hicks, Apone, Vasquez, Hudson, and the rest of crew to find and rescue her! "Aliens: This Time It's War!" is a fast-paced and easy-to-learn miniatures war game from Leading Edge Games. Bring your own d10s and Pulse Rifles! == Note to Chris: The game accommodates up to 15 players, so I'll need two long tables, two short tables (endcaps), and 17 chairs (2 for me). It'll also take me 30-60 minutes to set up, so we should set the start time for the players at 3pm.

Safe journeys! I checked into the hotel last night and am currently the bar. Do you guys write your forum names on your badges so I can actually meet you in person?

Just got in my room.  The forum name idea is a good one.  After I hit the registration desk I'll head to the bar.   :D

It turns out the badges are printed with the GaryCon forum name.  Since I use Bracton there too, all is well with the world.

Had dinner with Frank.  Gaming starts tomorrow with Tim at noon.

Went on Thurs. and Fri., other things are keeping from today. However, did get to see Frank again - always good to talk with him. Also played some D&D with Tim Kask, never a dull moment. Played some Don't Give Up the Ship with Mike Carr - never played it before, was a lot of fun. The highlight was finally getting to meet Allen Hammack of C2 fame - had a nice little chat with him too. Can't beat this Con when it comes to getting to meet the gaming "Hall of Famers". The bad part is waiting another year for the next one!!

EDIT- My humble site is, well humble, and unused to traffic with large images. It's fixed now.

I now know why everyone has raved about conventions, GaryCon has been a ton of fun. Rather than pollute a respectable forum like this one with my long winded inanity, I posted a bunch of pics over at my website. If that kinda stuff interests you they can be found at the eponymous http://nogrod.net/.

I am still here and I can't wait for the next con.

Zach

Great pics, Zach.  Somehow, we never did link up.  I'm finally home, and totally wiped.  But I will post pictures as soon as I have a chance to upload them.
