You should expect a few rare items to come up at the GaryCon and NTRPG Con auctions.  Last year there was a Warriors of Mars that went for over $500 at the NTRPG auction IIRC.  Gen Con is definitely the place to go for a truly unforgettable auction experience though.

You can pay cash but I know NTRPG uses PayPal or Google payments for processing credit/debit cards.  Not sure about GaryCon.

If you are looking for specific items though, Ebay and the Acaeum classifieds are the way to go.

Thanks for the quick replies. I am really looking forward to both cons and I am going to look into buying more raffle tickets for the NTRPG con as suggested.

I assume I will be meeting some of you all at both cons. Is there a way to distinguish board members there. I think I read in Dragonsfoot that some people put there board login names on their badges or is there some kind of meet-up? Just curious, especially about NTRPG, since I am attending that one by myself.

I can give you as many particulars for the NTRPG con auction/raffle as you want, because as of this year they are both officially my babies.  

For the NTRPG con auctions, a good selection of material to be auctioned is listed at the NTRPG con website in the forums: http://ntrpgcon.com/index.php?option=co ... 23&id=1796

We also have a "silent auction" that will go on all during the con where certain items will be on display with a bid sheet next to it, you write down what you want to pay for the item, someone else can top your bid, but you  could have a chance to go higher. These are mostly more common items.

In general, unlike other auctions the NTRPG con auctions will mostly include  onlyhard to find, rare or unique items.  We also take donations, or we will auction items for a 20% commission (items must be expected to get over $50 in bids).  There will be some items not listed right now to make it into the auction, such as DM copies of modules, or the artwork created during the art seminar.

Payment is in cash, or Doug will bill you, and you can pay online/over the computer. We know where you live    But payment is expected by the end of the con.

A $500 budget is pretty good.  You can sometimes be surprised at items that go much cheaper than expected, while others incite bidding wars.  My advice is to decide how much you are willing to pay, and stick with it.  Often when you are drawn into a bidding war common sense goes out the window and you end up overpaying.

Right now, Doug and I have so many items we are picking through to be put in the auction, if you are looking for a particular item let me know, and I will make sure it makes it into the auction if we have a copy.

The NTRPG con auction will be growing in size, and I hope in the year's to come it will be a substantial part of the con experience here in DFW.

Thanks Mike! I am getting pretty fired up about both cons. Tim Kask recommended your con to me over in the Dragonsfoot forums awhile back, that's quite a indication of the quality of the event if you ask me.

Yes, the Raffles and Auctions are now handled by Mike... and that includes all the shipping of stuff after the Con and sales at RPGMarketplace.com for items sold after the Con.

We are pretty flexible about payments, when I get time I send you a Google Checkout invoice if you are using a credit card, or PayPal request if you want to go that way as well... of course cash is king, and I take checks sometimes.

I am hoping to convince Mike to put a couple of higher dollar items in the silent auction just to have a couple of higher items in the mix, bit higher dollar items will be in the main auction on Saturday evening.

Like Mike said, if you are looking for some specific items to add to your collections, just let either of us know, we have a number of items we can put up if there are people interested.
