Howdy -

I have copies of TSR's Star Probe and Star Empires games. I want to find out if they are complete or not - is anyone able to confirm the contents for either game?

For reference, my copy of Star Probe has a rulebook and a map. My copy of Star Empires has a rulebook, map, a sheet of blank counters and a page of four record sheets.

I'm thinking Star Probe is probably missing counters, but is that all?

Regards
Mike

I believe that's correct. You can check contents here:

I did pick up a second copy of Star Empires a year or so ago that contained everything that is listed on Boardgamegeek, plus a sheet of ship counters.  I dont know if they belonged with it or were mistakenly put in as they looked the same as the Star Probe counters.  However, I bought it for another member so I dont have it anymore.  I think it was eventually sold by that member to Grodog though.

Maybe he can post a pic of the counters so we can determine if they are the same as the ones that came with Star Probe.

Hmmm:  a small world we live in, eh? :D  I do in fact have a Star Empires, that I bought from Al, and it's right downstairs...

...but it doesn't quite sound like the set you describe above, John.  My Star Empires set includes the ziplock, rules booklet, galaxy map, information sheet, and a sheet of 70 unpunched blank white counters.  Near the end, the rulebook says that

For those purchasing the complete STAR EMPIRES, a Systems Record Book outline sheet is included to provide a model for such record-keeping procedures.  This is the sole component of STAR EMPIRES which is reproducible with the permission of the publisher.  For those who have purchased only the booklet, this outline sheet may be ordered separately as mentioned elsewhere in this booklet.

Blank unit counter sheets of 70 counters each are available for 50 cents each from TSR.  Include an additional 50 cents for postage and handling on all orders, regardless of number.  Systems Record Book outline sheets are available individually as well---send two first class stamps for each outline sheet desired.  Star Maps are available for $1.75 each.

I don't have any any pre-printed ship counters, though.  Not sure if that helps?

Edit:  looks like that's the complete set, per BGG @ http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/293358/star-empires

Thanks for the info - much obliged.

Looking to put both these on ebay next weekend, so will make sure to note the missing ship cards.

Yeah, pretty sure the Star Empires you bought from Al is the same one that I picked up for him.  I remember giving him a hard time about it when he sold it.  :)

I do recall comparing your set with the one I still have before sending it off to Al.  Besides what I assumed to be the original ziploc, I could have sworn there was one significant difference between the two and I thought it was a set of ship counters but I could be wrong.  Either that or Al cannibalized them to stick in his Star Probe (ugh, that sounds kinda nasty   ).
