I am looking for some advice regarding care of collectible items.

 1) Is there something that can be used to safely remove some minor sticker residue from the cover of a hardback book without damaging the item? Or is it better to leave it alone?

 2) If there is pencil on a page of a module or book, is it a bad idea to erase it with a quality eraser?

Thanks, DD.Collector

Goo Gone and lighter fluid work great for removing price stickers.  I just used Goo Gone to remove a five year old price sticker from a book with a glossy cover today.  No stain, no residue.  Awesome stuff.

I'd be careful using it on something that didnt have a glossy cover.  Lighter fluid would probably work better.  Just dont use too much.  I dab a small amount on a Q-Tip and carefully apply it to the sticker.  Wait about 30 seconds to a minute and it should come right off.

As for erasing pencil marks.  Just use one of those good art erasers if you really feel like you have to erase something.  I would rather have pencil marks in a book than a bunch of pink and black streaks where someone tried to erase something with a cheap ass pencil eraser.

Use a Pink Pearl for the pencil marks, with a light touch.
