Overshooting the BIN

I had an auction end at 20 bucks over the orginal BIN value. That's a 33% over BIN.

What's the most you've had an auction end at above the original BIN?

I have seen it happen lots of times.
Mostly on items I never thought I had a chance of winning anyway and when that was so, I could not hit the BIN anyway. :)

Once watched as a Judges Guild item (City State World Emperor Set-Complete and NM) that was Binned at $30 go well over $60...
Pretty rediculous that the first bidder did not just hit the BIN as it was well worth it.
I see the books alone go for $30... easily.

Since I dont use BIN's in my auctions, I've never had that happen with one of mine.  But I did participate in someone else's auction that it happened.  Last summer (during Gen Con I think) I ran across two auctions with BINs.  One was for the Pavis box set and the other was for the Big Rubble box set.  Both were complete and in excellent condition.  The BINs were both set at $45.  If I had known then what I know now I wouldnt have hesitated and grabbed both of them for that price.  Instead I thought I could get them cheaper.  Both of them ended up going for more than $80.

That seller should have kicked some of those winnings back to me now that I think about it.  :roll:

Chainmail 2nd edition where I knocked off the BIN, ending up ~$200-300+ higher IIRC... Burnie Bros. might recall the precise amount? ;)

I've been selling lots like this for a little while with the $45 dollar BIN. I've never seen this much interest before.



I'm curious if WotCs announcement that they are re-printing the original AD&D books is generating interest in the originals.

Those three books are pretty nice looking though.
Not at all surprised at that price.

Not surprised at all in that condition.  I can sell run of the mill 1E PHB, DMG and MM for $20+ each, I'd ask even more in that kind of shape.  I would be surprised if your auction ended at under $75.
