So at last I've made an almost full pass through the scary room where most of my old art is hiding; I found very, very little with the old Morno signature (only two pieces, I think) but I've picked out three things that I figure I'll put up for sale soon.
To wit:
This is an early watercolor-tinted ink drawing of mine showing Frodo at the Grey Havens. It's not dated, but it has the old Morno signature, and that puts it before 1979. My best guess is that it's from '77. (I don't have any record of this one; later on I kept records of all my paintings, but this one's literally prehistoric.)
As far as I can tell the only other original art I have with the Morno sig is a pencil drawing. I liked that one so well in pencil that I never inked it.
"Remembering" is just under 18" x 12" and is badly mounted to an old piece of non-archival matte board, at 22" x 16".
"Conal Cernach" was the central illustration in a cover for
The Runestaff in 1982. If you're wondering why he's carrying a head on his belt, the answer's twofold:
1. He's Irish.
2. It's a reference to an amusing, bloodthirsty story in "The Destruction of Da Derga's Hostel". Or so my memory tells me.
The drawing is 4" x 6" and is matted to 9" x 12"; the matte is quite old and not in the best shape, but it isn't badly marred. I'd recommend replacing it.
"Aftermath" was an interior illustration for
The Runestaff in 1983. It's a larger ink drawing at about 10" x 14", matted to 15" x 20". The matte is nearing the end of its life; the outer paper has grown brittle and there's some damage at the lower edge. The matte ought to be replaced, but the drawing itself is just fine.
Anyway, those are the three pieces I'm thinking of listing at eBay, or anyplace cooler if there is such a place this year. I've only just taken the pictures and as yet I have no idea what categories I'd need to list them under or, I guess, anything else. It actually took me a couple of weeks to take the pictures - so I guess I'm posting them first to see if there's interest, and second to make me hurry the heck up now that actual people know about it
