JasonZavoda wrote:Mine were Lawrence Schick's copies. I'm not sure if they were part of these 50 DM's copies that I keep hearing about. They were light blue paper for the Lost Tomochan (sp) and light green for Ghost Tower. Loose leaf I believe but I will have to check.
ScketreWhisp® wrote:JasonThe Lost Tamoachan or Ghost Tower were made with loose leaf mimeographed paper inside a colored folder that was printed both front/back/inside.The "DM" copies, were just those with "Dungeon Master" written in the upper left corner where others were numbers 1 through 300 all by hand. There were fewer DM copies than numbered copies... so the DM copies might sell for $3000+ where number copies might be $2000 (we are talking really nice copies now.. think $1200~$1500 for numbered and ~$2500 for DM for many copies)If you actually have some of these, let's talk.
JasonZavoda wrote:Don't I know it... but back in '95 when I bought these they weren't going for anywhere near as much. A local game store bought a large collection of stuff from Lawrence Schick including these two tournament modules, 4 copies of Orange B3 and his original manuscript copy of the DMs guide. I paid $24 for the 4 Orange B3's and either $12 or $15 each for the tournament copies, and turned down the DM manuscript (filled with handwritten notes and corrections) for $75.
MetamorphosisSigma wrote:Was it DOKs where you got these? John kept trying to sell me a DDG in the mid-to-late nineties with Schick's signature. For $300 (I didn't bite ). If so, I didn't realize he had purchased a bunch of stuff from LS.
JasonZavoda wrote:Yeah, that is probably Schick's real signature. I bought a copy of Top Secret that has an adventure Schick wrote for home use or maybe a playtest copy in the box. I kept that one because it seemed so cool. They picked up a ton of stuff from Schick but most of it seemed to be just used TSR modules and boxed sets.

Gary Gygax thanks you by name for your contributions to the AD&D Dungeon Masters Guide. Do you recall what you contributed to this book? When I started work at TSR in January of 1979 Gygax handed me this huge, sprawling, unorganized manuscript and said, "Here's the Dungeon Masters Guide -- edit this." So I did. There were a few things he wanted to include that he didn't particularly want to write; for those parts he told me what he wanted, and I wrote them. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the original DMG at hand -- I lost all my D&D stuff in my recent divorce -- but I recall writing the Example of Play, some of the advice for Dungeon Masters, and a number of other bits here and there. But it was all under Gary's direction, and he certainly deserves all the credit.
JasonZavoda wrote:Well I have everything scanned in for Ghost Tower (Schick and his players did a lot of scribbling in it and the hand out sheets). It is 48 pages and I'm trying to figure out how to combine them or make them into a pdf. I tried zipping them but the file is still too damn big to send. My scanner makes these into fairly big files with lots of pixels. Should they be reduced? And if so, how many pixels should they be?
ScketreWhisp® wrote:JasonIf you'll upload them here in a single ZIP or multiple files, I'll make a proper PDF of it:https://sftp.assist-inc.com/dropbox/support
