Why?

I'm visiting my parents and their basement this weekend. :lol:

I'm actually looking for a tournament module I bought when I played the tournament as a teen. It may have been written by the staff of the Wizard's corner (in Saskatoon) I remember the plot involved yuan-ti using a mechanical dragon turtle to terrorize a nearby town.

Does this plot ring a bell with anyone?

Our group, with the pretentious name of Harbingers of Death, figured we would ace this puny tournament.
It was a two day tournament, and our entire group died in the first encounter of the first day to a Kamadan (well done!). On the second day we killed a helpful Dakon (for a massive point loss) but solved the module and killed a ton of yuan -ti (yeah!)

any western Canadians remember this mini-con?

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Sounds like the brief period in my life when girls and socializing were more important than gaming :lol:

Seriously I do not recall any tounaments around Edmonton (closest city to me at the time) at the time. I am curious to see your module when you dig it up though.

I'm guessing it was probably written by Kelly Sturch and Dan Hatchen for Wizard's Challenge. Its not The Manor of Lord Alderic of Enroc is it?
Kelly has passed and Dan has a lot of problems over he last number of years so no luck in trying to track down any stuff related to Wizard's Corner.

After the store closed, most of their stock seemed to end up at Sentry Box in Calgary. A lot of the small press stuff I bought from Sentry Box still had the old Wizard's Corner price stickers too. They had ads in a lot of periodicals so must have been a pretty good store back in the day.

I think it was a wizards challange but that name doesn't ring a bell. I expect it was probably played in Regina, Saskatoon and maybe Edmonton and Calgary.

I spent a lot of time at the Wizard's corner, my mom worked at a nearby school.

It had a wall dedicated to miniatures, a wall dedicated to modules, the back corner had SPI games and a bunch of stuff in between that I didn't look at as much

The small press modules weren't far from the mainstream ones and I am sure they sold well locally. Apart from the mainstream adventures I bought stuff from Dimension Six and Daystar west as well as lots of others. My copies all have pen and pencil marks in them from use.

Kelly looked like an actual wizard, which may have contributed to the name of the store.

I was sad when they closed. A store named Wizard's Corner II opened a couple years later three blocks away. It was run by GW fans, and games like bloodbowl were all the rage. I didn't visit the newer shop much.

My only regrets are that I didn't buy the Orange Palace of the Silver princess when he had it on the shelf and then I didn't buy it again!!!!! when it was $50 at a local book and record store as a collectors item.

I scoffed at the price.

Have you thought about taking out an ad' in the local press in the area, Al?
Someone will remember iplaying or DMing, but the odds of them still gaming or being internet savy and still gaming are prtty slim. You might get lucky.
