I was on a college trip with my eldest and came across this on a dusty bookstore called The Dusty Bookstore in Aggieville, K-State:

Didn't know what it was, but it called me and I bought it. It is in what looks like an original bag and everything! I searched eBay when I came back to the hotel and an Acaeum member has one for sale at $50. I paid $4.

Score!! Nothing but net!!!

I found and bought other stuff (some of it on Classified forum already), but this is by far the best buy of my young collector's life.

$50 sounds way high - higher than what most resellers try and sell them for. These generally sell more in the $15-20 range. Not as many Palladium collectors as there are D&D collectors. Also, this one seems really mass produced. There are generally a couple copies always listed on Ebay. Its a good piece of Palladium history though and $4 is a good price to get it for.

$4 is a good deal. I think its one of their earliest, if not the first *, official module published by Palladium. If I'd seen it for that, I'd have snapped it.

* Duh, it does say that right on the cover. Might not be so stupid of me to actually look at the whole thing and not just read the title...

It is a great piece of RPG history - its one of the few Palladium items I own. Finding anything useful at a bookstore or gamestore always makes my day.

I think this forum, as a whole, can get so caught up in the OB3s, ST1s, Woodgrains, etc., that we lose touch with the "mundane" somewhat rare and cool stuff from the golden age.
I would have grabbed that thing without a hesitation. It screams old school. I still get excited when I stumble across the occassional steal on ebay for a first print T1. Is it anything to get excited about? Maybe not for some, but for me it is. Hell, if any old TSR module pops up in mint/near mint condition with a $5 BIN, I am all over it. I hope I never lose that feeling.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

That's the sort of thing my collection is built around. I think it's a cool find and something that I'd like to have.

Indeed. Not everything has to be expensive to be cool. I picked up a couple neat boxed sets circa 1983 recently (sorry smarmy, I deshrinked them), and I love 'em, but neither was over $10.

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

Agree. I found many cool things on my trip. I put in Classifieds what doesn't interest me, but I still find everything worth having/trading.

To me, that's how stratochamp and others got their amazing collections. Will be there someday, hopefully...

You did well. I had much the same experience with The Mechanoid Invasion, The Journey, and Homeworld, getting each of them for less than cover price in 1998 or so. For those not in the know, these were the first three books Palladium EVER produced.

Palladium isn't all that popular, and a lot of it has to do with Kevin Siembieda, if this RPG.net thread is any indicator.

I like some Palladium stuff. Very hit and miss. Besides, they were a Michigan company.

Kevin Siembieda is a good artist, going by his Judges Guild and Palladium Fantasy books. And heck he used TMNT and made it a cool game.
