Hi,

I recently aquired a "fanzinish" book called:

THAT'S NOT IN THE MONSTER MANUAL Vol 1

Does anybody here have any info regarding this?  I know there are Vol 1 and Vol 2. I only have vol 1...

I've heard it was aquired at a convention...??? anyway it contains the Beastiary from Dragon Magazines... low quality photocopy type pages... Neat...

It sounds to me to be something that is a homebrew 1off rather than a small press publication.

They are photocopies... low quality... but then bound into a soft backed book about magazine sized.

Yeah saw that too, I was expecting photocoppies of the Dragon mag pages at worst, re-typed stuff at best..

I could swear I had heard of these things before seeing that auction. Maybe others have come up in the past?

If all it is is photocopies pages from Dragon magazine, I probably wouldn't classify it as a small press item - happy not have been bidding on them (even I have to draw the line somewhere).  Makes me doubt any others exist but the covers do look kinda familiar (the art is possibly taken from somewhere else too).  Any kind of production/distribution would step all over copyright laws - Outlaw Press anyone?.

I was bidding on both of them despite the statements made in the interesting items on E-Bay thread (opinions stating they were likely Dragon Magazine Page Copies).

Not being sure at all myself though, I stopped at $16.50 each.
I was willing to risk that much just to read them to try to figure them out.

Still curious myself and I for one would be happy if you would post a scan of the copyright page (If there is one) and perhaps a page or two of content...
At the least describe the book better than the seller did.
How many pages?
Is there a date?
Publisher?
Author?
Illustrator?
Etc...

I wondered why price was so high on this item. I was going to place a 3-4$ bid, just to see, and was astonished by the current bid. Since it is only photocopies, it does not worth more than anyone photocopies of Dragon mag, even if it is bound. As Mars said, I would not classify it in small press item.
Homebrew means that there is at least a few work on the item. Here, it seems that nothing have been done, only photocopies.
Is there anything more than Dragon articles?

I think I found my summer job after NTRPG Con...photocopying Dragon mag articles!  Sucker......born.......every.......minute.....~!

Some sellers know that they are selling photocopies, or part of boxed sets, but sell this kind of things as something as INCREDIBLY RARE THAT NO ONE WILL EVER SEE ANOTHER ONE ON EBAY AGAIN. These sellers are definitely suckers. They willfully rip off collectors/buyers.
