Not just a great artist, but an awesome guy. He'll definitely be missed.

That is excellent. Thor killing the Mid-gard serpent. Where is that from? It looks very familiar.

I do believe it's from the Dieties & Demigods book.

From the Deities & Demigods book towards the end of the Norse chapter. It's his preliminary drawing that would be eventually inked.

I never met Jim, but I am happy that I have had the opportunity to see so much of his great work. A true giant among the frpg illustrating world.

And I could've bought these damn modules off the 1$ rack!!!

I'm so glad I had this done a few years ago.

Oddly enough Jim was not my first choice for a commission, but he replied promptly, and his price was very reasonable. This means so much to my original gaming group, whose characters are pictured here in Jim's re-interpretation of his classic Q1 cover. Personally, I think this blows the original away!

Some artists plateau, other artists decline over time. And some artists just continue to get better.

Jim was clearly one of those artists who continued to improve. I think his later works are his best.

i've always liked that commission that mike had done. even seen it first hand and its a superb piece.

good to see that so much of his art is loved and treasured...surely thats what anyone would want after all!

Intro directly lifted from the Wikipedia update typed up a few days ago, but now made "official" by being reworded onto WotC's site, which means Wikipedia can now use that as a source for a "front page" entry which it couldn't before.

*sigh* Utterly lazy, but at least they asked a few of his friends, too.

Jim is 3rd from the left

btw I thought I recalled an old thread where someone was asking who these TSR people were, but I couldn't locate it.

Agent 3 reminds me of that character Milton from "Office Space"

That's just too cool. I had the Top Secret boxed set, but never saw this... I recognize Roslof, and I think a couple of others. Have you put names to any of them?
