I was just looking through a boxed set of ruins of undermountain and noticed it was missing the Monstrous Compendium sheets ( a common occurence) and was wondering if anyone had compiled a list of the boxed sets from TSR which had MC sheets in them,

I've been assuming this is complete:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ad ... n_monsters

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

Wow that took a lot of work to put together..someone had some time on their hands!

btw, not to throw cold water on all that work, but I didn't see any of the Ravenloft box sets listed in "other sources." Realm of Terror I know has a MC supplement. Not sure if any other Ravenloft box sets did.

Also, Greyhawk Ruins had several MC additions

Damn your eyes, Misterspock, got me started checking and I see they don't have Ruins of Undermountain II mentioned either.

In that case, you could filter Echohawk's HUGE monster index to get what you're looking for:  http://ant.hivemind.net/monsters.html

I put this together by slogging through the TSR archive descriptions:

Dragon Mountain - 8 sheets
From the Ashes - 5 sheets
Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (both 2nd Ed versions) - 8 sheets
The Horde - 4 sheets
Ruins of Undermountain - 8 sheets
Ruins of Myth Drannor - 8 sheets
City of Splendors - 8 sheets
Al Qadim Land of Fate - 8 sheets
Al Qadim City of Delight - 8 sheets

These have "Monstrous Compendium booklets":
Night Below - 8 page booklet
Ruins of Zhentil Keep - 16 page booklet
Ruins of Undermountain II - 16 page booklet
Spellbound - 16 page booklet
City by the Silt Sea - 32 page booklet
The Nightmare Lands - 16 page booklet

These have separate monster books, but don't use Compendium to describe them:
Planescape Campaign Setting - 32 page booklet
Planes of Chaos - 32 page booklet
Planes of Law - 32 page booklet
Planes of Conflict - 32 page booklet
Rod of Seven Parts - 16 page booklet

Basically, the loose sheets seem to have appeared during the time from the launch of 2E (1989) until the publishing of the Monstrous Manual (1993), then they began with the Monstrous Compendium booklets, then later products (Planescape and Rod of Seven Parts specifically) don't reference the "Compendium" at all.

Realm of Terror did not specifically mention MC sheets in the description, however, it does have "24 full-color cardstock sheets, featuring haunted castles, horrid houses, and fiendish folk," so based on a 1990 release date, those fiendish folk sheets probably are MC sheets.  I do not have this set to check specifically.

Those big sheets are about the size and paper consistency of the sheets from the CoG boxed set or from the ashes and featured castles and NPCs. They did the same for the horde boxed set and I believe Menzoberranzan at least.

2118        Monstrous Compendium Outer Planes - 48 Sheets
2104        Monstrous Compendium - 64 Sheets
2405        Monstrous Compendium Appendix - 64 Sheets
2109        Monstrous Compendium - 64 Sheets
2102        Monstrous Compendium - 72 Sheets (74 total as booklet)
2103        Monstrous Compendium - 72 Sheets
2105        Monstrous Compendium - 96 Sheets
1055        The Horde - 4 Sheets
1064        From the Ashes - 4 Sheets (with a total of 5 monsters)
1109        City of Splendors - 8 Sheets (1st sheet has 1109, rest don't)
1084        The Ruins of Myth Drannor - 8 Sheets (Labeled FRX1)
1085        Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (2nd Edition) - 8 Sheets (Labeled w Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting)
1060        The Ruins of Undermountain - 8 Sheets (No Indicators)

Anyone have From the Ashes with 5 sheets, because I've believe the TSR Archive is wrong in that regard (along with some other minor errors)

Sorry to say, but yes.

Animus
Dwarf, Derro
Losel (front) / Lyrannikin (Black Treant) (back)
Thassaloss
Varrangoin (Abyss Bat)

The introduction to book one states it correctly, the back cover to the box doesn't.
