New here so apologies if this is inappropriate or if there are restrictions on recommendation questions like this.

I'm coming back to AD&D after 25 years away from it and trying to pick up copies of all the things I sold for almost nothing in a garage sale a couple of decades back.

I'm not looking for mint condition stuff - I want it primarily to play with and to read for nostalgia's sake - but I do want things to be neat, solid and clean.  Getting hold of the hardback manuals seems straight forward enough but some of the modules are less common and harder to come by.

My question is, other than eBay - which seems to have a fairly wild west approach to condition, descriptions and so on, where on the internet do people recommend looking for things?

For all of eBay's problems and issues, if you are patient and willing to put up with some aggravation, eBay is the economical way to go.  Each person has their own style, but what I eventually ended up doing was buying a few larger lots that had most of waht I wanted, and then I sold back on eBay what I didn't want.  In some cases, I actually made money AND got what I wanted!  

However, if you are a discriminating buyer who likes shrink wrap and especially rare stuff, then going wth eBay can take a really long time.  However, if you want average quality stuf that isn't too rare, then eBay is usually hard to beat.

There are threads here about stores Noble Knight Games and Troll & Toad who are some of the larger re-sellers with stuff on the shelf ready to buy.  rpgmarketplace.com is also a place used by several members of the Acaeum to buy and sell stuff.

Will agree with advising folks to buy from Al (Killjoy) especially for UK/Scotland buyers.
And even if for US buyers as his rates are as low as he can manage.
I have purchased many items from him.

In all respects; Al is indeed a top flight dude.

As mentioned above RPG marketplace is also a great place to find GREAT Sellers with great stuff.
A lot of the items there are BIN type deals though.

I can see that rebuilding my childhood collection is going to be an expensive but fun hobby.

The best place for cheap regular TSR D&D/AD&D stuff is eBay. There are plenty of regular resellers who stock a wide range of product, and there's always the forum here, and Dragonsfoot.org if you need to ask about other people's experiences with one eBay dealer or another.

The two big controvercial eBay names are Troll and Toad (in the US) and Cougarinard (in the UK). They've both got high volumes of stuff going through eBay, and high volumes of customers, and customer service is inevitably compromised as a result, and reports on this site and others indicate that errors and nefarious goings on are frequent.

So avoid the two bad sellers and you should have a good healthy experience buying cheaply on eBay. Buy from the two biggies and you may be happy or you may get stung, either way it's a learning experience and you just need to be wary and protect yourself by buying on a credit card.

Pretty much any other experience you could have will be something others here could advise you on, as we've all beed there before.
