OK, sitting here, outside Chicago, with temperatures in the teens (Fahrenheit) makes it seem crazy to be thinking about August . . but, Gen Con badge preregistration opens January 23, followed by housing January 25.

The new JW Marriott (which I think is the largest JW Marriott in the world) will have 900 (that's nine hundred) rooms alone in the Gen Con housing block).  My son, who has seen it, says it's "shiny".  High praise from an 18 year old.

So, who's going?  I'll be there.   8)

Hi,

me and the missus will be there :)

No booth this year tho - I would actually like to do some playing, and the missus some shopping.

Cheers,
Malc

Of course I will be at Gencon.

The Marriot is the world's largest and it dominates the Indy skyline.  Visually a very beautiful building.  It sits right next to the Conference Center.  Those who chose to stay at the Marriot will enjoy their stay, I'm sure.

According to the email from GenCon they will be using a lot of space in the JW for RPGs and have an area set up to buy tickets for events as well.  We'll have to see how well the accomodations stack up before I jump ship from the Westin though.

Hi,

I think we will probably go for the JW (if we can get it). No mention on their website as to whether or not they have concierge rooms tho :(

Cheers,
Malc

We will be there. No booth this year so hope to spend more time gaming and checking out the convention floor.

Here is a photo spread of the new convention center.  Pics of the convention floor are at the end of the spread.

Are you going to swing by and check it out Martin?  The pics of the big halls (22-24?) look to be much larger than the halls used previously...maybe it's just because they're empty.  Gonna have to make sure the shoes are boke in before the Con this year 8O

Soulcatcher78,

I will be there.  All the space is in additions to the space the Con had up til this year.  Yeah, my legs are going to get a work out.

I would describe that carpet as "godawful."  It hurts to look at.

Who thought that was a good idea?

Tip for single gamers staying at Marriott hotels:  Bring your laptop to Gen Con this year if you feel the need for any "In-Room Entertainment".
