Long-time reader/first-time poster here...

I've been reading a bit about the (bad) buying experiences many have had with Troll and Toad, but was wondering if anyone has ever tried selling to them.

I sold them some stuff this summer and the transaction was generally good.  I was able to off-load some near mint products that had no bites on ebay, and did it for a good price.

Recently, though, I tried to sell some more stuff, and, well, there are several problems.  Before I give any details, I wanted to find out if anyone else had tried selling to T&T and what their experiences were.  'Cuz, frankly, I am worried.

Anyone have anything to share to give me some background?

It appears to be a website loaded with "gossip" from (former) employees and people who know the company in Kentucky.

It's not a pretty picture.  It also sort of explains some of what's going on in my situation, which is even more disturbing.

The sheer level of online bad press about this company is what makes it such a bad company to deal with. On the basis that where there is smoke, there is fire, I wouldn't suggest anyone buy or sell to T&T unless you are standing at their stall or their door and dealing in cash.

When you have to trust someone to tell you the truth over the phone, be honest about an online financial transaction, or not be inclined toward fraud in order to screw you out of money knowing you can't deal with them directly, you should ALWAYS avoid companies who have proven track records of defrauding its customers, lying or stealing from people.

The 'online barometer' of forums and noticeboards is far more accurate of what a buyer or seller can expect, that anyone's personal experience with them dealing face to face at a shop or stand, because it is a more accurate representation of what the buyer can expect to receive, and the people who they are dealing with.

At the end of the day, if anyone buys from T&T and get's screwed, they really only have themselves to blame. Everyone knows what sort of compnay they are dealing with, and just like people who walk across motorways make it accross fine, and some get hit by cars, it's not the car's fault, it's the prick that walks accross the motorway that deserves what he gets.

T&T are very straight about it... You are buying something that may or may not be complete, may contain writing or tears or missing pages. Mint in original shrinkwrap. No photo available. Photo is a stock image and is not representative of the item being sold. $400+ excessive shipping. No combined shipping discount offered.

If someone is that thick, T&T are teaching them valuable lessons in life, because people that stupid need to learn before they fast about the world of online commerse.

Better that they loose a few bucks to T&T that end up mailing their money to TV evangelists or signing up for fantasy investments like some idiots do. Better to learn about money early than loose their life savings later in life. If we'd had companies fleecing fools of their money earlier in life, maybe we wouldn't have had so many idiots living in poverty having worked their entire lives and given their money away so foolishly later in life.

I might not agree with T&T's business model or moral stance of petty fraud, but I have to commend them on building a business on the basis that the world is full of mugs, and the education they receive is a valuabe life lesson at a very cheap price.

To be fair, Topix is a cesspool of libelous, malicious and dangerous stupidity.

It's the Jerry Springer show of the internet.

I don't frequent the site often, but I occasionally read it for amusement.

I would recommend everyone take the comments there (relating to T&T or otherwise) with more than a few grains of salt.
