Many, many years ago I used to be connected to the rpg industry which gave me the chance to acquire a quantity of (random) imagery associated with TSR/D&D. Unfortunately, the passion for acquiring pretty much anything I could get hold of was not matched with a small amount of common sense. I should have catalogued each bit of the collection while I still had some idea of what it was and where it was from. D'oh!

Having recently dragged my collection out of storage, I have identified most of them but have ended up with a bunch of pictures which I know are associated with TSR in some way but that's all. Many of the early products used art that was unsigned/undated which makes easy research pretty much impossible. Checking the web for "Old TSR art" or similar search terms is (obviously) futile and while I have copies of magazines ('Imagine' etc.), this has only helped identify some of the pictures. The other problem is that I suspect most of the 'unknown' pictures were generated for TSR UK when it was at 'The Mill' or soon after it moved to Cherry Hinton - neither periods of which are documented very well.

With being out of circulation for a very long time I have no idea how to resolve identifying their use/artist etc. so just thought I'd pop a post up here and see if anyone might be able to suggest a way of filling in the blanks.

I realise this must seem like a rather strange message to post but 'The Acaeum' (and its regulars) is the only site I could think of that might be able to help.

Hi Phentari,

Have photos of them all - scanning wouldn't be an option for the larger ones (framed, some of these are over 3 foot in length). Might be worth cranking up the scanner for some of the b&w interior ones though - suspect the quality might improve if it didn't rely on occasionally 'odd' auto-focusing   .

I did look to see if there was somewhere I could 'dump' a bunch of images on the site but couldn't see anywhere (and given there are around  40 'unknowns' I didn't want to start popping stuff up in random locations).

The color covers were the easy ones.  The black and white drawings will take more time as I will actually have to open the modules and take a look.  Several of the remaining ones do look familiar though.

Once the rest of the Acaeum wakes, you should have answers in relatively short order.  Thanks for sharing the photos.

"Dwarf Pole" is by Dan Frazier. It appeared in the box set "Dwarven Kingdoms of Krynn". I know it also appeared in his art book.

Monsters 1-5 are from "Creature Catalog" AC9

Eel/Giant Squid = "Monsters 3"
Desert Ghost / Kara Kara ="Monsters 4"

btw, I think they're all by Brian Williams (not the guy on NBC news   )
