Scott---

Do you know why the Internet Archive stops @ Aug 2008 for the Acaeum forums?:  did you change the robots.txt or some other settings then that would disallow the indexing of content, or is it just something on their end?

I don't keep an "up to date" copy of the site, but I do copy the site every so often:

http://acaeum.assist-inc.com

Let's me "offline" browse when I need to.

Did Scott give explicit permission for that, per http://www.acaeum.com/frontdesk/credits.html ? We've shaken down rpg.net just for "borrowing" scans, before.

Anyhow; if that's also a copy of all the forum postings up to July 1st, as appears to be the case, could you please remove all my own posts from your own /online/ hosting.

That would be a "no"

I only host it for my personal use, as in I have never posted a link to it before and if it's an issue, I can limit access to it from only my IP so it's stays personal

Doug

Scott: if it's a problem, please let me know, I'll make it a local http for my IP block

(some offices I work from have the Acaeum site blocked but my site [assist-inc.com] is never blocked so it also allows me to access info like that as well).

In any case, it wasn't meant as an "alternative" for the actual Acaeum site... I have been "copying" the every 2-4 months since about 2003ish ?

For now I have set the site to only allow traffic form about 10 different IP blocks that I have access from.

So it should no longer be an issue.

If Scott says it's okay to have a copy that's publicly accessible, then I'll switch it back.

No one should be able to access it now (clear your cache if you think you are actually at the site)

Thank you, Doug. That's one serious workaround for a site block!

Aside from (c), a courtesy note might've been appreciated to know that a static copy of everything posted on the forum ended up mirrored elsewhere online, albeit "well hidden".

It's not really much of a "work around" when you do this stuff for a living :)

I copy hundreds of websites all the time for my own private offline viewing... so you may have other postings from other sites you are not aware of that I have copies of !!!

(So much for thinking deletions fall out of Google's cache eventually).

I've seen it....amazing! He has to kick me out of there when I come over to visit!!!! :P

But seriously, you have to see Doug's setup sometime.  It's like a computer lover's wet dream come true.  The triple-screen by itself is kick ass....
