Which printing did you notice that on? I checked a couple of mine real quick (a 1st print and a 7th print) and it wasn't the case. I did notice on the 1st print that the Paladin in Hell artwork is offset so there's a white border at the bottom. However in the later print, the artwork fills the page.

I'll go through some more of mine a little later and let you know.

Does the artwork itself look filled in? It might just be a case of too much ink coverage. It happens.

I looked through a bunch more that I have (1st printings through 9th) and there's varying degrees of the ability to see through the art from the opposite page, but I didn't notice a big texture difference.

The art is cropped differently between some of the printings, like you said, where the title of the piece at the bottom is hacked off.

It looks like the earlier prints in general use thinner paper, and you can see the art behind the page more easily than the latest print I have, but that's about all I noticed.
