Wierd Ebay message - just me or do othere see it?

Has anyone come across this message when trying to view an Ebay auction item:

"Unfortunately, access to this particular item has been blocked due to legal restrictions in some countries. We are blocking your viewing in an effort to prevent restricted items from being displayed. Regrettably, in some cases, we may prevent users from accessing items that are not within the scope of said restrictions because of limitations of existing technology. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause, and we hope you may find other items of interest on eBay."

what was I trying to view ? Just an early edition of White Dwarf magazine

This is the second time IIRC that someone has complained of this issue. Makes me wonder which governments our "friends" at eBay are working with to "protect" their citizens...

That can happen when the item being sold is illegal to sell in the potential buyer's country.

It's also possible that some keyword in the description is causing the whole thing to be blocked, such as if the word 'Bible' is in the description, buyers from China may not be able to see the listing because such things may be verboten.

I got this message a lot of times. I posted about that few weeks ago.

Actually, this message appears more and more oftently. I guess that some keywords push ebay to block items. Very confusing. One items on 20 are blocked like this in France. They don't even appear in ebay listings when you are going across a category.

So we see this message only when we click on a link to an item. But I think that a lotttt of items are blocked.

As suggested by some members, for these items I use a proxy which anonymize my IP (TOR) with the ebay.com adress for the item (not the ebay.fr) and it works sometimes (sometimes not and ebay still blocks the item, don't know why).

Is there anything in the content/wording of the listings which gives any clues about why it's being blocked for France?

I didn't notice something in the listing. And sometimes we have access to a blocked item after the end of auction.

For example, the Temple of Andar that Ian sold

** expired/removed eBay auction **

I got the message that ebay blocks this particular item when the auction was running. And now, I can access to the listing...
