Those are the fun days when getting that next star is attainable. The point Im at I doubt I will ever get to the next star on ebay.

You buncha whippersnappers. When I started on eBay, there were no stars, I had a dialup connection, sellers could leave negative feedback for buyers (in fact, my only negative is from a seller, lol), people paid for things with checks and money orders, and many auctions had no pictures at all.

Well we had to walk 2 miles through the snow to post our listings, and ebay wasn't called ebay at the time (but I can't remember what Pierre used to call it).

And I've just become a Power Seller! Quite thrilled about it too. I first started on Ebay in 1999, I think it was, and it was quite different back then. You could actually put an auction on with a dial up connection. I still have dialup, so do all my auction-putting on from my local library as you surely can't put anything on now with all Ebay's bells and whistles. Congratulations on your first star! Mary

Wasn't it great?

My favorite part was that pictures were still so rare that eBay would add one of those uber-cheesy yellow "PIC!" icons next to any listing that had one. My second-favorite part was the 27-page "How To Add Images" guide they had available for sellers.

It's funny to picture a world where not everyone had a digital camera ... or knew what "JPG" meant ... or would willingly bid hundreds of dollars on rare items that were described with just a string of highly subjective words.

Mine 6/17/98, so you have me beat by a few months. The first thing I ever sold was one of the earlier basic sets (Sutherland art), chits intact. You guessed it, no picture.
