Hell yeh to both.  Most of us forget that being a kid isn't about having a dad that is an exhibitionist lunatic, but being "one of the crowd".  Sure it would be fun to have a dad that other kids thought was cool....but the kind of kids that think Iggy or Henry are cool weren't the ones I hung with when I was in school (no metal heads, hardcore punkers, etc). I'd rather have the hard working, slightly dorky dad that brought me to baseball games and bought me a car on my 16th birthday than the one who came home drugged up with self-inflicted cuts on his chest (Iggy) or a smashed up face and knife marks from the fight he had started with audience members (Henry)....

Henry was in Heat, as well as a couple others. He's actually a decent actor. He drove a Jeep through the desert while Steve-O from Jackass got a tattoo.

Do I read this as the gay community is going to protest this movie simply because the movie has no gay characters???  I would understand and to a degree sympathize with them if the movie was in some manner offensive to gays or perhaps portrayed all gays as villians or degenerates.  In any case, looks like Friday is not the day to see the film if this protest has any legs, as the point will be to disrupt those trying to enjoy the movie.

Personally I'd feel more aggrieved for the minority green Na'vi population for their lack of appearance in a positive light (well, /any/ light) in the movie and the inherent racism such an omission entails.

Yeah, I'm not sure I see how this is some brilliant media blitz to bring attention to the movie. I can't fathom what the person writing the original article was trying to prove, or what the protest is supposed to accomplish, but it's clearly not the work of the studio, IMO. Any publicity is good publicity, or so they say, but this is just laughable. I'd agree with your assertions that the film itself is playing on anti-industrialist/pro-environmentalist sentiments in a way that probably undermines its ability to be a truly important piece of cinematic art. I also happen to agree with the sentiments. So where does that leave me? Or more precisely, my opinion of the movie? That it's likely more Hollywood crap that caters to the lowest common denominator of the political faction which I (holding my nose half the time) happen to support...half the time. Good politics = bad art. Hell, any politics equals bad art. When will they f'ing learn that? Never. Movies are too powerful, and decent directors (I'm assuming he is, not a fan per se) too few to not let them beat whatever drum they want.

What I wouldn't give to be a gay black handicapped female. I could just spend all day protesting.
Is anyone else done to death over this PC bullshit? Everyone seems to whine about how PC crap is taking over, but no one appears to want to do anything about it.

Congrats to my high school alma mater , Euless Trinity Trojans, for another 5A football championship, our third in the last six years.  The Texas 5A division is considered one of the best high school divisions in the United States, and this year's championship was a slugfest won in overtime. I just wish they had been then this good when I was there 30 years ago!

Heh, never played.  Although they went to the playoffs a few times when I was there, things didn't change until the Tongans started settling here.  6 ft, 300 lb offensive linemen in high school football sure help turn the tide!
