Great pitching will always beat great hitting, no one was hitting that incredible lineup of pitching the Giants threw out there. Glad a team that hadn't one one since the 50s got the trophy. Beating the Yankees in the ALCS was really the high point of the season for me, winning the WS would have been icing on the cake.  At least the Rangers aren't cursed anymore.  They've gotta sign Cliff Lee, though.

People in Seattle know how this works.

A fair number of the best players in MLB are former Mariners.

A-Rod would be a good example.

The Yankees should instead see about replacing Derek Jeter at leadoff and Posada at catcher. Their pitching isn't the biggest problem, they could better spend the money elsewhere.

Most people missed the fact the Rangers just signed a 3 billion dollar TV deal, guaranteeing them $150 million a year for the next 20 years.  By contrast, the Dodgers TV deal is only $45 mill a year. The Rangers will have a higher TV contract than any team in the league except for the Yankees and are poised to become one of the highest payroll teams in the league.  I doubt they'll be outbid on Lee or any other free agent they want in the next few years .  Even so, it would be funny to make the Yankees have to overbid/overpay for Lee in a bidding duel and add $200 million dollars to the Yankee payroll.....

OK, well done on the catch, but is it necessary to be hunting them?  :?

Yup, they were once an endangered species, but now their population is over a million and require seasonal hunts to keep the population in check.  The hunting licenses also provides checks for the state!

Actually, yes.  Their numbers are at nuisance levels.  Culling them is a cost effective method of stopping worse environmental damage.

On the back of recent US billionaires investing in English football teams, this is fun to see.

"His wife bought him the title of Lord of Bedlington" from the above article...

How much does that cost? I would love to own a title. Then, I could do whatever I wanted with it.

£30 buys you a (very) small piece of land in Scotland and therefore gains you the title with it.

However, to be Lord of Bedlington is more likely many thousands.

£5k buys you 1/2 acre!

Barely more than $1500 buys 1,000 sq feet, for a couple. Hmm...

And (as far as I can tell) that does legally give you the use of the title.

Lord Serl of the Highlands.  :D

Ironically, Moss goes to the one NFL team that has almost no ability to throw the long ball.....not because they have no receivers but because they do not have a quarterback who can throw that far.

Maybe if they put Collins back in?

Yeah.  It's basically a massive con.  There is a difference between a peerage (a true Lord, hereditary or life) and a Lordship of the Manor.  A peerage cannot be bought (well at least directly, you have to donate a large some to a UK political party ;) ).  A Lordship of the Manor can be bought from a few charaltans.

A Lordship of the Manor does entitled you to call yourself Lord Whatever.  Instead it is Mr John Smith, Lord of the Manor of Whatever.

At the KC Game Fair, Tim Kask announced this evening that he and I, with Jim Ward and Chris Clark,
are starting a publishing company named
Eldritch Enterprises.

We will publish a variety of general works, and will also offer new creations for roleplaying games written by each and all of us.

Watch for more news to come.
