from what little I can remember about TFM, I think he used to play the stock market.

If so, its possible he's been burned badly.

Given that he had about 7 ST1s, and no doubt a ton of the other Rares, he is just liquidising, and (sensibly) getting the best price he can.

thoughts here not many people so complete + even less such people only tsr. $2k for one nonunique completist photocopy item available also published form at $100-200+ seems very high when could buy 20-30-40 all original non-tsr ultrarares same price
that auction only r1 + More will be forthcoming if this one sells dangle hint with no guarantee reserve not higher next time might not appeal to all or if feeling being played with as often for seller

not sure about comparison st1 about same rarity as tamo. r1 prepub more rare but cannot say is better as potvq 4th or 10th brown box also more rare

if compare tamo instead was $1600 early 06 vs $900 r1 prepub. tamo now $900-1100 so guess prepub $600 on that measure??

still was expected someone would test $1000 to see if reserve but only losing winner knows if they did

Thanks for blowing my cover, Rakeesh.    Guess I just don't know when to stop.

For what it's worth, my last bid on the prepub R1 was $1100, and it still didn't hit the reserve.  Frankly, I didn't think it made sense to go over $1000, but when the bidding fever comes on, there's no stopping it.  

I guess if TFM is trying to find a "market price" to use to sell to NKG, then this business with the high reserve makes some sense.  But it's a bit annoying feeling like a stalking horse.  So I think I'll let TFM's other auctions go by, at least for now.

(Well, at least until he puts something up that I really want.   )

Deities Demigods with the Cthulhu and Melnibonean mythos in very nice shape ending soon.  No bids, and not a bargain, but not bad either.  Good for a UK collector.

Of course, many rpg collectors already have one of these.  But that is good, because I believe that having such a copy is what separates the "truly great" rpg collections from the "merely humdrum"
