And this article....a link from the Hobbit movie story....makes me laugh.

1)  Never give a wild animal a name or nickname.

2)  "Oh, how unfair that he was shot during the rut!"  Idiot - Hunting season is specifically during the rut because that is when the deer have their antlers in trophy form.

The alternative to having a nice-looking deer shot would be not managing the red deer population in the Exmoors, with resulting destruction to both the deer and the Exmoors.

Yes - I just saw that on the TV news     Why on earth it is a national-news-worthy-story when we cull thousands of deer annually in the UK is beyond me.

Maybe 'cos it looked so loverly (aaah).

I attended my first Notre Dame game saturday at South Bend.  Fantastic.  Tulsa's buses were escorted onto the campus with police cars and two helicopters.  I had a seat at the northern endzone at field level just to the right of the uprights.  Cheerleaders were right in front of me with the student section just to the right.  Left my camera in the car!!!!!

Is Dallas still playing? I haven't watched a game since they lost to Minnesota so I have no idea.  Just rooting now for firing the complete coaching staff and a top five draft pick next year. With Romo out it's all over anyway.

And my back up favorite team (Chargers) is having a horrific year with injuries but still hanging in, still not expecting much from them.  In retrospect it was a terrible mistake not to give WR Vincent Jackson what he wanted, he could have used him the first 10 games of the season.  Now he's held out and won't be back for two weeks more with three of the San Diego WRs injured.

Sadly, the Rangers are now down 3-1. Just hoping Cliff Lee pulls it out tonight to force a continuation of the series and give the loyal home crowd nice memories of the magical miracle 2010 season.

I think the Vikings have joined the Cowboys in waving the white flag for 2010....it's a race for one of those coveted 1st five picks in the draft next year.  It boggles the mind how these two teams have fallen in the toilet since the playoffs of last year....

VIKINGS WAIVE RANDY MOSS
By DAVE CAMPBELL, AP Sports Writer

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP)—The Minnesota Vikings have waived receiver Randy Moss.

Linebacker Ben Leber says coach Brad Childress informed the team that Moss had been let go during a team meeting Monday afternoon.

The NFL Network first reported the Vikings waived Moss, but team officials have not confirmed the news.

Moss had one catch for 8 yards in a loss to the Patriots, In Sunday night's postgame news conference, he expressed admiration for the Patriots and criticized Vikings coaching.

Childress said earlier Monday that Moss was staying back in the Boston area after the game to spend time with family. Childress said he did not regret acquiring him "at the moment."

Childress did not mention the roster move during his news conference.

The Vikings acquired Moss from the Patriots a month ago for a third-round draft pick. He played in four games for the Vikings and had 13 catches for 174 yards and two touchdowns.

mike

yeah not good man. i saw they lost so its 3-1 now. hope they pull something out tonight to keep things alive.

jets lost in a totally crap game too...so was a little sucky.

i see the wembley game went down pretty well though - seemed pretty exciting.

85,000 crowd! thats gonna keep the NFL thinking about playing a game there each year....so much potential to tap from spreading the game this side of the pond.

At least you guys got a halfway decent game this year. I think they are going to continue playing one each year for the near future.

The Jets are schizophrenic. Hard to believe a Packers Def missing half their players to injury held them scoreless.  Everytime you think Sanchez has turned the corner at QB he has a clunker like this.

I was just trying to figure out if the cheerleaders wear panties under the lollies.  I could not tell.  And yes, I was close enough.
