I suspect that a league-wide IQ test would reveal that offensive linemen are also the most intelligent group.

I remember reading where tackles and centers on average score the highest on the "wonderlick" (sp?) test.

Why are the same teams always in the same leagues?

Blue Jay and Orioles fans ask that every year. :wink:

The list becomes more impressive when you consider that quarterbacks score right in the middle of the four offensive line positions.

There are fewer quarterbacks and they are supposed to be intelligent, so one would expect their average IQ to be quite high. (Maybe Cutler is bringing them down?)

There are lots of offensive linemen, and their greater numbers would be expected to generate an average very close to 100 based on numbers alone. The fact that all of them are comfortably above 100 is significant.

I'm surprised running backs average so low. 92-94 for backs and receivers is brutally low. It means that some of them is mighty low in the thinkin' skills.

Those scores go a long way to explain why SOME WRs cannot run a designed playbook route to save his own career...

I was shocked that they ranked 3rd, behind QB's and DE's.

I think it is spelled "Wunderlich." (But who cares?) The test does matter.

Quarterback Vince Young scored extra low on that test....then look at what happened to him during his first years in the NFL. He pretty much broke down.

Young was also emotionally immature, slapping a teammate on the helmet during practice...a mistake that cost him respect. The helmet slap was a symptom of the low emotional intelligence that caused Young to break down.

It is possible that Young matured while he he watched Kerry Collins play in his place at Tennessee. He returned to marked success...as if Collins were the reason everyone else was playing poorly. More likely, as soon as things don't go well on the field Young will break down again off the field.

Terry Bradshaw and Dan Marino both scored extremely low on their Wonderlic. Both are HOF'ers. Matt Leinart scored a way above average 35. That test doesnt mean shit.

The Wonderlic was developed in 1939. It wasnt developed specifically for the NFL. From what I have read it has changed up quite a bit over the years but it is still just a glorified I.Q. test.

hmmm... The Brits No-Hopers were exactly that last season, going on a 12+ game losing streak after being 2-1... Still, it was good to hammer Plaag's Lame Legion, so I might just join again to do that! :twisted:
