probably seemed like a good idea at the time  8O I've a vision of a whole room-full of stuff with Dymo labels on everything. (In my imagination I see him sharing a room with an older brother who takes great delight in upsetting and belittling young Bill - though perhaps I'm reading too much into it :D )

You can never have too much of something you didn't need in the first place.

"PERVIOUS", indeed!

Labels can be removed; ink pens are permanent.

Exactly! (though you probably mean the price)

I mean if you are not playing anymore at least tuck them away or something - their are as much part of the past and bring back memories as any picture would be.  I know I miss even the goofy PC's and even adventures I wrote early on and would love to have them back.

Zero feedback seller.  Could be a joke.  :?:

If the seller next claims that the character sheets are haunted or that an image of the Virgin Mary has appeared on one of them, you'll know it's a joke.

No not a joke.

I believe a few weeks ago (or further back) he was trying to sell them for
$1,000.00

That's the joke...

It seems to me that he thinks people will be interested in buying the characters. That's why he mentions all their kewl lewt and phat stats.

Works for World of Warcraft ... not so much for a pen-and-paper game. Epic fail, as the kids say.

Is the auction a parody of MMORPG auctions?  Does the auction mock MMORPGs, pen-and-paper games, or both?  Is the auction a social commentary upon how we spend our time, our money, and our lives?

I can't read any of the character names, stats, items, etc., to see if they continue the joke or if they are dead serious.  And that, too, may be part of the joke --- how serious can one be about a fantasy RPG that is played for enjoyment?

Although I wonder: if someone put up the actual character sheets of characters played by celebrities (say, Steven Colbert, Robin Williams, or Vin Diesel,) I wonder how much they'd fetch?  Assuming provenance could be established, that is.

Clicking on the Bid History shows a suspicious bidder.  Bidder 5***5 pushed it from $200 up to $400.  He has 33 feedback but "0% Positive".  This was his only auction in the past 30 days.  I presume that his account has been inactive.

I was watching this auction myself with quite some interest. I have everything pictured here, and am glad I got it all for free from my FLGS instead of trying to compete with THAT kind of bidding. Wow.
