The Q&A regarding explanation of the lack of blue color in the scan of the Lost Tamo in this auction sounds legit to me. As someone who has worked in the pre-press industry, I can confirm that there are certain shades of blue that do not scan or copy (referred to as "non-photo blue"). Man, that is a nice lot of ultra rares.

He would have made more than 6K had he sold them seperately, than as a lump sum bid. More people might be inclined to spend 1K on an item, as opposed to having 6-7K for a single bid.

All three of the "lesser modules" (heh... lesser... I kill myself... :lol:

) would have easily netted over 1K each. And I believe (after the 2 that sold at Gencon this year) that Garden Path would have netted at least 3K.

Had I had 6K of disposable income, I would have bought all 4 of them (assuming the reserve was 6K). Unfortunately, I am lucky to have 6 dollars (U.S. dollars at that) as disposable income.

if the Pound had still been at 2 to the Dollar, I possibly would have taken a punt on them.

Not at the current rate however.

I wonder how much Gencon booths costs these days ($1,000.00US)?

And as far as rarity, these are around 300 mod's a piece (with the exception of designer copies, dm copies, etc.)... roughly... :wink:

There was one for sale a few months ago, in the similar "brown box" older D&D sets.

So this would be a 2nd or 3rd printing? Just curious...

Sorting out the printing information is a bit awkward.
There are a couple Guidon Games printings before they were published by TSR. When TSR took over, they used the woodgrain boxes but some contained the remaining Guidon Games books (1 or more of them), then later woodgrain boxes contained all TSR books. When the woodgrain boxes ran out they moved to the cream coloured ones.

So the cream coloured GK set is probably around a 5th or higher print.

I wouldn't bid on them at the moment with the exchange rate. It would annoy me too much knowing that last year they would have been 25% cheaper.
