Anyone not at least looking at Mile High for their comics needs is missing a very large boat. They've got literally the best selection on the planet, a solid and dependable staff (I've gotten a few refunds and/or other problems sorted out with no difficulty at all), and, best of all:

Unlimited shipping for $2.95.

Order five comics: your shipping total is $2.95

Order 500 comics: your shipping total is $2.95.

Order 10,788 com— ... well, you get the idea.

Placing bulk orders through Mile High is one of the last great deals left; these guys are like the anti-Cougar. I've been taking advantage of it for years; I try never to have fewer than 10 items ordered when I'm finished with a Mile High frenzy. Everyone wins: they get more product out the door; I fill in the holes in my collection and pay $2.95 for shipping.

In an era where three out of four eBay sellers are asking me to grab my ankles on shipping (some out of greed; some because eBay has nickeled-and-dimed them to death), I can assure you that Mile High will have me as a customer for life.

only indirectly Mr M :)

it was about the supposed value of said item and the possibility that it should be worth more, so that the purchase was a good investment for said poster.

incidentally....hasnt been seen around these here parts since.

shame.

so...out of curiosity, what IS the current value of a Tsoj?

Are we nearly there yet?

From beginning (guy with an agenda) to middle (questions about the valuation system) to now (meandering all over the place), this thread has concerned Tsojconth indirectly at best.

Yes indeed...
Of course, the value of Tsoj is what someone is willing to pay,

Sorry to not to have been back sooner, real life and all.
But all this business about an agenda isn't worthy of a response.  If I thought someone was actually engaging in price fixing, I would have stated so clearly, naming the individual and circumstances and so on.  If you want to read an accusation into what I said, go right ahead, I really could not care at all.

On to something I do care about...
Frank, did Gary ever discuss Tsojconth and specifically Iggwilv/f with you?  One of the features that of course distinguishes one fantasy world from another is its important NPCs, and the change from a dead male archmage to live female one is pretty interesting.  Was this change made with Grazzt in mind?

Thanks.

The auction price is not "about what you would expect".  The auction price was, in fact, SET BY Acaeum.  Acaeum values it at "$1144".

The bid I had to beat [by w***r( 345)] was    US $1,143.97

And this makes me uncomfortable.

It makes me wonder if someone will decide tomorrow its only worth $800, then I lose $350.

It makes me want to know how the value was arrived at.

I also find myself wondering if there is price manipulation going on to maintain its value (though I personally think its worth more, and I am not complaining about not paying $2000 for it).

Sorry, I don't know how I read a price fixing accusation into that. My bad.

Much like actual CPU load, it's a binary condition of either off ($0.00) or on ($infinite) at any given moment in time.  Only by integrating the frequency of those values over time can you come at an approximate value of a Tsojconth in a defined period.  If that's not sufficiently confused, I'll try harder.

The current valuation average is sitting about $1,168.97

I also agree with that statement.
I lurked for a couple of years as an E-Bay buyer and sometime researcher for information on E-Bay RPG items.
I never posted on the forum though I would sometimes read the threads.

I found the site through an E-Bay listing as it linked this site as a research site to prove the authenticity of a rare item I was bidding on at the time.
After reading through the item lists, I was hooked and saved the site for future research for myself.
Some time later I joined up and started posting and soon after that my collection got bigger and bigger and bigger..................
Of course now that collection is almost all gone.

Tsojconth?
I think it is not overvalued at $1100-$1200 for a NM copy.  8)

At the same time,  I think that  ST-1  is overvalued at $1,000 for a NM copy, never mind $2,500 for a lesser copy (VFine).

At the same time, I do not think the SW Orange B-3 that recently sold on E-Bay for $3,000 was really worth that much either, but I do not mind seeing one sell for that. 8)

Okay, someone asked for the raw data a while back in this thread.  This should be almost all of the Tsojconths that have been sold publicly since 2001.  More to be added.  The Tsojconths prior to year 2001 have been removed from the valuations to keep the pricing more in line with current trends.  Note that the recent sale values are quite high compared to the earlier years.

I saw one sell not too long ago, Bart. You can add it to the list. It went for about $1,168.97. Give or take.

aside: Did you get further confirmation of the condition on this one, since that just seemed to be a single (possibly light?) vertical crease from the picture and description;
** expired/removed eBay auction **

Compared with:

Foxed, major spine splitting, annotations (including ink), yet rated higher.

<<

There are small slight rust color stain spots on the cover and on the back of the booklet and on the inside of the cover. (see pictures)  also 2 of the pages have small spots as well.

Pages are flat and crisp and have never been bent or folded.

The cover spine is almost seperated apart it is held together by about a 1 inch section of the spine still together I have never tried to repair it.

There is some small writing on a few of the pages (see pictures) looks like all pencil marks except the arrow which seems to be in ink.

The second should be far inferior to the first, IMHO.

Ok, what a long thread and I can't take the time to read it all...

But for: sanguinemetaldawn

I was the bidder at the $1143.97.

I saw the item, read the description and called Paul Jaquays (sp?) on the phone. He was unaware of it's value.

In any case, I think the value based on it's condition is: $1485.71, so I was willing to pay the full currently listed Acaeum value for the item, thus my single bid on it, I would have bid a couple hundred dollars more if I had really wanted the item, but I am going to Italy in a few months and don't need to over spend :)

So, that's why the price was at the $1144.00.. I wasn't "letting" it go for less.

Appreciate your input faro but this information is not subject to debate or it would be an endless discussion with everyone expressing there own "expert" opinion.  The valuations are simply a composite over time of the estimated condition of these items based on actual testimonial, pictures, the sellers description, and a personal assessment by valuation board members.  A point up or down on condition isn't going to matter too much in the overall scheme of things.

Better to keep *all* realisations/evaluations private if so, as was stated to be the case?
Has certainly convinced me to continue to put no faith in those, anyhow, given your reply.

Cheers,
David.
