Was "carded" in a bar today - for the first time in my life, at the age of 48.

Only had a flick thru the o&ws, first mention of d&d was in issues 4 and 5.
By issue 6, they were obsessed by it

I think it was issue 7 had a review of the Strategic Review, no 4.

Looks like the letters from Ian livingstone were actually written on the back of pages from o&w issue 1, which was one-sided.

Main collectibles auction tonight - the 10th anniversary box set has a min bid of $900, I believe.

Indiana has some bizarre liquor laws that got passed in 2010.  Unless the clerk or server believes you look to be over 50, you get carded when you buy alcohol here, period.

On the other hand, several years ago I was at our store's annual Christmas party which was held at a bar downtown.  I was the only person seated at our table who did not order something alcoholic, because I don't drink.  If everybody else at the table is getting something alcoholic and one person orders water, my first thought would be, "Ah, designated driver."  Apparently, our waitress's first thought was, "He must be under 21" and I got carded (I was 25).  First and only time I've ever had someone check my ID for ordering a glass of water.

Grabbing a quick lunch right now after Hickman's Killer Breakfast (at which no food is in fact served).  This year's was even better than last year's in my opinion.  I'll post pictures and some of the story when I get back home.

Most items (other than the few things I bought   ) at last night's collectibles auction went pretty cheap.  The Ghost Tower of Inverness, very clean, went to Stratochamp for only $800.  I don't recall the exact price for the third print woodgrain, but I think it was around $500.  A number of R and RPGA series mods went in the $150 range.  Blackmoor picked up a couple of Wee Warriors items (Labyrinthine and Endless Dungeon, I think) for about $150 a piece (I'm still kicking myself for not bidding against him on at least one of them   ).  The 10th Anniversary set had a $900 reserve, and went unsold.

I'd say the dealer exhibit hall is smaller than last year's, but on the other hand there are no empty booths this year.

There's another RPG section at the auction in about an hour, and the chari auction is tonight. It's pretty unlikely that another particularly rare will come up at this pnt, however.

I promise it wasn't me that sold that set!   I had wanted it sold on Friday night... I did sell the run of KotDT 1-5, with the first issue going for $300. Sold lots of other choice items. Bid on a brown box 3rd printing but stepped out before it hit $540 and sold to the British chap.

Was great seeing so many Acaeum folks in the auction. Hope everyone had a great time. It's always a pleasure auctioneering at the Gencon auction and getting to sell alongside folks like Tim and Frank. It was wonderful seeing them both again this year, though sadly Tom Wham was missed.

Auction was massive this year. Over 1000  people registered to bid during the auction, and there were thousands and thousands of items sold. Simply amazing! A more detailed AAR later... gotta get some sleep!
