The Tsojconth, Tamoachan and Inverness should probably be around $1200 each. Then the ST1 -- what did one go for at GenCon, $3500? So I'd think the reserve should be around $6000.

Sure would be an easy way to get a load of rares

Probably get a bulk discount, i would guess $5000 as a reserve, we shall see (maybe). If you check the rest of his auctions he has some pretty cool shrink stuff up.

Games can get you through times of no money but money can not get you through times of no games!!

Reserve is definitely more than three grand - made me all tingly typing 4 digits before the decimal point - think this is the first time I've done it!!! (Not that that makes a difference - unless the reserve is deleted and every single other D&D collector in the world dies in the next couple of days that is - here's hoping :roll:

)

To derail this a little, I was thinking about big money collectors earlier today. Just out of interest are any of them (you!) who are actually rich, in the commonly held meaning of the term(I think rich = House worth £1M + and income £200K + - these figures are not carved in stone BTW, so don't feel bad!!)(I am not rich).

Not saying this as a good or a bad thing, particularly in todays financial global climate - My gut feeling is that most big collectors are pretty much ordinary guys who a) got in at the beginning and just kept going or b)those who love the stuff and are willing to sink a huge part of their disposable income into the thing they love. (and why not - it's certainly no worse than pissing it up the wall :roll:

)

no trivial deal for non-US even if does not compensate for recent exchange rate loss
since refuses to misquote total cannot send by USPS as $2499 max so that is courier at his expense ^^ ~$160 dhl ~$210 fedex to europe i make that

know some do have income that large but less than one-fifth of that here now

What, no Fazzle?!

They look like really nice copies all. Would be worth a shot if i) I was in buying mode, and ii) it weren't for the ST1. Just can't get myself excited over that one anymore.

Reserve I'm guessing is at $6500. And by that I mean it may just be an advertisement auction. Should be really interesting to watch.

I think you are over doing how much you need to get the big stuff. I like my beer and car too much to spend vast amounts on D & D but get rid of those and I could probably afford whatever I wanted. This is one of the reasons, apart from the joy of reading/playing some of the things, why I appreciate D & D collecting. There is a lot that is affordable but you have to save to get the good stuff.

My thoughts are....lots of people live in £1M houses that don't earn alot of money. They have just lived there a long while. As for £200K a year...that is footballer, board of a big company or city banker territory.

For info and worth doing a few months back I just went through my bank statement and saved £100 a month just phoning up mobile phone, gas, electrictity and insurance peeps and getting them to give me the current going rate; rather than the over inflated price you get after being with a company for a year. Thats $170 a month!!!!! extra on D & D

.

I do think most on this site are in group a.....I got started by selling my old D & D and going from there.

is true enough but $170/month can still go far if careful searching + avoid most of listed on this thread which is good way not to get cheap
or save that $2000 + careful purchases at gencon

Suppose it's only relevant if you're selling (or buying - if anyone is doing that at the moment!) - Doesn't affect me as I rent anyway :roll:

As for the £200K salary - well, rich is presumably a lifestyle thing, requiring a big salary - the difference (if you will), between the 'haves' and the 'have-yachts' :lol:

The thing with any collection is that something else has to give. For example - looking in my lads bedroom, there are upwards of 40 PS2 games - even at £15 a pop thats a lot of cash which I never noticed spending, and which could have easily got me a nice H1 that I'm still missing from the collection. And I know single guys of a certain age who think nothing of a £100 pub night and buy the latest xbox 360 game each month for around £50. I personally couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money on those kind of things, which is, presumably, what people say when they find out I spend ANY money at all on Dungeons & Dragons, a game I don't even play!!

- Nah, most of the big stuff is of no interest to me - I'll just be happy to finish my FR collection, and slowly top up the Traveller stuff.

I purchased one earlier this year, I paid $100.00 CDN I think. It was still in shrink wrap though. But from what I have seen in ebay, they are not very cheap.

FRIAs were not shrinkwrapped. You can tell a brand new one from a round piece of scotch tape on the openings of the box.
