Right, except it's usually the case that only one of the two countries is concerned with distinguishing itself from the other

Heh, that, and I was thinking of Canadians backpacking through Europe with their own flags sewn all over their gear. Actually, of late I've noticed Canadians wearing maple leaf flag patches even in their own country.

I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin'

He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

BARBER:
I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars.

MOUNTIES:

Due to our weather, we have an earlier harvest and, in turn, an early Thanksgiving. However, our holiday can't compare in importance to the one in the US.

watching the Chilean Miners rescue.

Just incredible.

Its not so many years ago that those guys would have been left to die.

Incredible to think of what their mental state may be.

However, there was talk of them being greeted by people dressed in 'Planet of the Apes' style outfits, for fun.

And as an aside, I understand that their first interviews are to be with Roy Hodgson at Liverpool, to advise on how to get out of a f*cking big hole before Christmas.... :wink:

Not that this is anywhere near comparable, but I regularly spend long periods of isolation or near isolation in the wilderness as part of my work, and coming out of it I often feel overwhelmed and instantly depressed by the incredible overload of sensory stimulation that's just part of our everyday lives. Watching some of this last night, I was thinking about those poor miners coming out to the bright lights, jumbotron, music, etc.

I hope they'll receive the counseling and support they'll undoubtedly require to make the transition back to life on the surface.

I totally agree. Having listened to some of it on the radio this morning, it would seem that they have numerous psychologists and counsellors on standby to help them through this.

It must be an overwhelming feeling to suddenly come into all this again. The nearest I have come to this is 4 days in relative isolation walking in the middle of nowhere and that was mentally tough enough and doesnt even scratch the surface of what these guys have been through.

And to think some of us spend months wandering around tunnels looting dungeons before surfacing. No wonder wizards go mad and build themselves dark dingy things.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

Me too. Some of the video footage is quite moving.

its good to see scenes like this amongst all the depressing negativity that the news generally is these days.

that aside - its nice to see liverpool win the high court case this morning. hopefully now, we can ditch that feckin moron Hicks and actually have a proper football club again - he's pushed it right to the brink of destruction - something i never thought i would ever see.

Yeah, multiple loved ones in several cases. A couple of those guys may wish they were still down there after their wives get through with them.
