I don't know if it was dirty but it was sloppy. Look at the last big run AP (or was it Chester Taylor) had.  Instead of trying to tackle him they are attempting to strip the ball out of his hands and punch out the football. When it doesn't work the RB will be able to rip off huge runs. Fumbles are nice but a tackle is even nicer if it means the guy doesn't bust off a 20 yd carry. Hell even my wife who knows nothing about football was asking me why they just weren't trying to tackle the guy.

I think the hits were just part of the way the game developed. Any team is going to take an open shot at the QB.  On one of the hits Favre actually comes back to the play to try to recover the fumble...he's just another player in that circumstance and the defense would be obliged to treat him as such.

I thought it was odd after being beaten to a pulp all game Favre didn't take one more for the team on the final INT play.  If you watch after he rolls out, he's got a lane there that would have gotten him 10 yds, well within Longwell's range.  Trying to make too much happen has been Favre's achille's heel throughout his career.

Yes.  They were clearly trying to hit Favre and damage him.

The officials should have started calling the unnecessry roughness penalties sooner.

If I had been the Vikings head coach I would have been livid on the sidelines.  "Is it really your plan to just let them take cheap shots until they injure our quarterback?!?!"

Did you notice the play where Favre's ankle got hurt?  How was that tackle different from the one called on the Ravens for tackling Tom Brady?

Yes, I did notice that actually.  And not just me, people watching with me saw it too.  Several occasions of NO players rolling into his legs late or giving him an extra shove to the ground. etc.

Don't have a dog in the race either way, but watching that stuff kinda makes me want the Colts to win the championship.

I think this has been the Saints style of play this year.  Kurt Warner got beat up pretty badly last week.  And I remember when they played the Pats on Monday Night, Brady was pulled when the game was out of reach most likely because he was taking a lot of hits.

Was the Bills/Oilers a playoff game.  If it was then that was the number one come from behind game.

Not one person/analsyst has thougth the colts defense could match up, but they have every game.  Freeney and Mathis do not have to get to Brees to disrupt him.  Everyone said the Jets (number one rushing team) would run all over the colts - they did not.  The Jets number one Defense got picked apart by Manning.  What do you think he will do to a mediocre Saints defense.  Manning and company (25 players) have been to the Superbowl virtuely noone on the Saints team has.  I just do not understand how anyone thinks the Saints defense (who could not stop the Vikings [or the Cardinals] - only the Vikings stopped the Vikings) is going to stop Manning and the best stable of young recievers in the game.

That's a very smart move.  I actually perfer it this way.  I will be very surprised when it arrives.  As you graciously offered the map in wager, should the Colts win I will of course pay the postage.  I wish I had as large a collection as you do so that I could match your offer, however that is just not going to happen (at the moment [challenge ]).

This weekend I painted the wall I will hang the map on.
