Well, I was going under the assumption that no one here owned their own international oil company, national bank, a third-world country, etc. ... outside of gaming worlds, that is.

Did anyone watch the Oregon/Arizona game tonight?

Oregon won 44-38 in double overtime.

Arizona fans prepared to storm the field with 10 seconds left, just before Oregon tied the game with a touchdown.

Arizona remains the only Pac-10 team never to reach the Rose Bowl.

Oregon and Oregon State meet to battle for the Pac-10 Championship.

Wow, look at that, my Giants actually won a game!
There's now hope that we could go 7-9 this year!  Who knows? Maybe even 8-8!
Woo hoo!

I watched this game...it was fantastic.  The civil war next week will be even better.

It will probably be underwater in 5 years, Malc. Still, it looks really nice!

Maybe we all chip in and build a gaming retreat. We could call it Fantasy Island :sunny:

Hi chaps, this is probably a UK related post logistically, but I am planning to walk the Ridgeway next year, 87 miles in 5 days. It will be in aid of the local hospitals special care baby unit, where both my boys spent a couple of weeks after being born 5 & 6 weeks early respectively.
So I'm arranging an auction of signed sporting goods etc to help raise money and wondered if anyone could donate an item or corporate sponsorship towards the auction or event?
Cheers
Dave  :)

Anyone else think this bears an uncanny resemblance to the backstory for the Jorune RPG?

http://www.avatarmovie.com

I mean, it has skyrealms for crissake! Not to mention a seemingly primitive alien race harnessing the mystical power of its planet to repel a human invasion...

See now Master Chief would blow away those faeries.

Upset Halo the movie didn't make it, and instead had District 9 made instead.  Not that great of a movie by the way.

Well don't I feel ignorant? I have no idea what Ferngully is, and all I know about Halo is that it's some kind of console game... <sigh>

Well, the short form on Halo would be:

1)  Watch the movie trailers for Avatar.

2)  Edit out the mean, insensitive humans against uber-holy and righteous aliens in the Garden of Eden.

3)  Insert aliens who really deserve to die and are worth killing.

4)  Halo

I take it that when you say "PC" you mean to say it's full of liberal environmentalist propaganda (probably true), but imagine the outcry it would have caused in the U.S. had it been released circa 2002/2003!

It's kind of nice to see that we're back to a place where someone can criticize rampant militarism, colonial ambitions, and rape of the natural world without being called a traitor   .

The trouble with mankind and "civilization" in general is that people are usually on the giving or recieving end of rampant militarism, colonial ambitions... you may as well be the giver in that case. We also wouldn't have all those great WW2 movies and games (for instance) or a History channel without that stuff 8) War is some perverted form of entertainment imo...
