I already have almost all of the listed items anyway.
Not worth my time or effort if the seller cannot be bothered to answer simple inquiries for a bidder.
Indefensible and inexcusable IMO.

There are PLENTY of friendly/helpful sellers on e-Bay who want my money more.
And of course I am happy to give it to them too.

I figure I might as well be happy giving eBay sellers my money . . . since that's what I do.

I try to give Ebay sellers my money but luckily the friendly folk at the Acaeum have lately prevented me from doing so - I'm sure you are just trying to save me from my own reckless bids ;)

Can someone offer a benign reason for why I got a second chance offer for this auction?

Beats me how you geniuses can spot shills...
I have suspicions on occasion, but I have no idea how to make sure and would really like to know the secret.

Or there were multiple copies available.

Areas of interest/knowledge: Harn, WFRP, Ars Magica, anything BRP based such as CoC, Runequest, Pendragon and all their related games

Yeah - this might be more reasonable.

This all happened within four hours of the auction ending. I'll just ask the seller what's going on. Thanks.

I wouldn't think this bidder is a shill.  Has only bid on 2 of the seller's auctions and has bid on 3 other sellers stuff as well.  Acts more like a new bidder who didn't want the item in the end.

I was just making a guess.  (And I had no idea anyone would pay attention.)  After so many bids on this item, and then to turn it down...and then there was another bidder who ALSO possibly turned it down...sounds like shill bidding.

A typical shill bidder is a genius type who tries to raise my bid by guessing what my maximum might be...and then, when he shills himself too high, he offers the item to me later at that maximum.

If you want the item, why don't  you offer the seller the amount your bid stood at before other bidders (bogus or otherwise) raised the stakes?

Snipe!

That seems high to me... and to all but two fierce bidders.

I see that the winner is a member here, so maybe he'll explain his thinking...

I think the guy running up the other guy's bids was prvteye...again.

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d ... llFeedback

I wonder if he had won it, would he have backed out of the auction? Ebay used to show the number of bid retractions...maybe I'm just not looking it up correctly now, but in the past prvteye had a good number of bid retractions every six month period.

I know those folders are sought after, but this seems way too high.

whomever a***b is, just so you know, if you keep upping your high bid once you're the high bidder, it shows this on the bid history. It basically just invites others to run up your bid higher than you would have gone otherwise.

Ahh but this can actually work in 2 ways... you can scare someone else off by upping your bid 3 or 4 times and letting others know you'll pay whatever so bid high or go home.... some times help keep the other bidder off the item unless he really wants to see you pay the higher price, which you're willing to pay or you wouldn't have entered it in the first place...

OR

as I have used it in the past, you can increases your max bid by 1 penny if you are the high bidder... so you can up the bid 2-3 times as 1 penny... then get a bidder to go big and force him into the lead.... only done this when I seem to get a bidder that wants to push my bid to the max every time I bid ie: I bid $99.97, the other bidder bids 75, 85, 95 trying to find your limit... then sees your 99.97 and knows that's the top end... as the high bidder you can make a new max of 99.98, then 99.99, then 100 ... the other bidder tries the 105, 115, 125 thing.. except gets the lead at 105 ... kind of hard to "with draw" with a good excuse at that point... if you know the bidder, it usually pisses them off, especially if he is shilling for someone...

Who said eBay can't be entertainment
