This is the Character Generator from the 3.0 PHB...I *think* the E-Tools may have been linked with the D&D online effort (as opposed to DDO, their MMO). I figure someone has a more precise answer than my own fuzzy recollection.

The CD that came with the 3.0 PHB can be a nut to crack, trying to find one that actually is still in the book. I've gone through 7 of them and only 2 had CDs. Of course, I didn't really care about the disc because it is flaky as hell (some work for the most part, others work better) and I'd only gotten the books to give to someone else, so... that's not really "data" per se. Just an experience.

You can get this same NEW unopened CD from Troll and Toads web site for under 6 bucks... and they have over 300 copies in stock right now.

I can see NO reason this should be worth anything close to $1,800.

Perhaps if it was UNIQUE, but this one was only rare... not close to unique.

Actually, it may be unique. Rarely do you see an LJN Tiamat in the box in that condition. But this guy actually had it AFA graded?!? I have seen crazy people pay ungodly sums for graded action figures, comics, and video games. I dont pretend to understand it, but as long as there are a handful of wealthy people that get off on this sort of thing, there will be a market for it.

I've seen 3 or 4 boxed ones sold through Ebay. Generally they seem to sell for $300-$500 (if I recall correctly).

For the TSR completist I guess $300-$500 does not seem that bad; however I cannot justify it for a doll...err action figure.

They have been creeping up and the last two did about $600. Only one of the two was near mint or mint. The other was VG. Dunno why anyone whould pay the extra for ASA 80.... One of the two that sold for 600 would likely grade that or higher. And grading would likely cost $150. Still, that's a big jump from 750-1600 and the people who care probably want afa 90 or better.

The one that ended in November 2009 sold for $500 + $15 s/h.

There have been at least three since then. I bought one in a lot for a good price. I thought the $500 was a crazy anomaly then. But, they have been very strong. Doesn't matter much to me though, as I was able to get one in a lot for a reasonable price, so I filled that hole in the LJN collection!
