It is both disgusting and amusing that you guys are so drooling over the booth babes... I see, now, where some of the "gamer stereotype" derives. ;)

Hi,

my Missus used to deliberately employ a goth girl with extremely large assets and a taste in skimpy clothing, in order to work at our booth at Conventions.

There was once actually a fight over her at the booth - and all she was doing was talking to blokes. Admittedly she was also wearing a rubber blouse.

One bloke even put in more than 5 hours straight talking to her one day.

Never understimate the drool factor in a male gamer.

Cheers,
Malc

Gamer stereotype...... that's just a male stereotype.

Well, I hope you were charging him by the hour.

I actually thought there were fewer booth babes this year than in the past two (especially in the computer games sections). Maybe the game companies have decided that oversexed gamers aren't really big spenders?

Malc is right, it really works.   I employed a sweet, beautiful young girl back in the 90s when I was working a lot of comic cons. Here job was obstensibly to "watch" the booth while I went on food or bathroom breaks, or strolled the room looking at product.  Sometimes she was the only girl in the entire room, and she was quite unaware of her "charms".  She often wondered why a crowd of nerdy, socially awkward young men were always crowded around my booth talking about Sandman and X-Men comics with her; I didn't wonder, because sometimes the stereotypes are there for a reason!!!

In conclusion booth babes work..despite our advanced evolution (or because of it, who knows...)

I just happened to be reading the Gen Con Community forum threads earlier and noticed this post from Contrarian regarding the Red Eye Cafe which is where we ate breakfast most mornings we were there.

You must enjoy grease, bad service, and daytime drunks.
On the other hand, the Red Eye Cafe has the advantage of never being particularly crowded. Probably because of the grease, bad service, and daytime drunks.

Last year, we raved about how awesome the food was at the Red Eye....specifically the biscuits and gravy.     This year was definitely not at the same level as it was last year.  Management change or something else....not really sure, but for me it was seriously lacking in just about every way.  The coffee was weak and lukewarm every day I went.  The food was decent but there were some odd quirks.  Like the day I ordered two fried eggs over-hard (I dont like runny yolks).  Both eggs were attached to each other but one was runny and the other was completely hard...how does that happen?  Tables were dirty every time we were there even though there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant.  Service was lacking for the most part.  And apparently their air conditioner was broken.

And apologies to Brendon and Al for hyping up the biscuits and gravy.  I guess some things arent for everyone (Vegemite for one).

No Apologies necessary KoP.

Although the biscuits didn't take my fancy, the cheese burger breakfast was very good (love the fries with it) and the Tim Tams didn't last too long

Couldn't understand how the coffee could cool so much in getting to the table. :?

Oh, and don't forget the teaspoon either

When I was on Svalbard last winter with a British colleague from Cambridge, we pulled up at a remote cabin on our snow mobiles, and went in to warm up and scrounge for food.  We found a huge stash of cookies, and the guy kept going on about the "biscuits".  I asked him, if "cookies" are "biscuits", then what do you call the things we call "biscuits" in America?  He gave me a funny look, and asked me what I meant.  I went on to describe these dry dumplings we eat with gravy over them.  "Oh, those.  Yes, we call those disgusting."

Pretty much right on.

Hey, lighten up. Enquiring minds want to know...
Actually, Ashley is a very nice young lady with a mild streak of exhibitionism. I "rescued" her outside the back door to the auction room where she had been waiting in vain for someone to bring her her credentials. I went and got them for her inside and she was very sweetly grateful. I can ask those kinds of questions for two reasons: first, I'm grey, bald and old = "safe and harmless"; second, I've been married 38 years to a great lady I've known for 45 (Summer twixt 8th and 9th grades) and treat all ladies with respect and candor, which they respond to and appreciate. Right ladies?

Dude, what drool? Ashley was never moist any of the many times I spoke with her; I was at the Troll's booth several times talking business with Stephen and Davis, the brothers whose company it is.
Since when is it disgusting to admire a pretty woman? Do you find it equally disgusting when women make a fuss over some hunk? We are, all of us, hardwired to a greater or lesser degree, to respond to certain visual cues.
As to "gamer stereotype"? BS. The predominant sterotype was for two decades that we were so involved in gaming that we either didn't notice or were not interested in babes. Or that we were so socially inept that we couldn't interact with ladies. Or are you mistaking the "comic/computer geek" stereotype with gamers? Or perhaps the "nerd" movies?
Disgust? What planet do you live on?

I agree, you guys should have just stuck with the bacon cheesburger.  The burger and the fries were awesome as usual.  But yeh the place seemed a little more...beaten down?

I do believe I am responsible for making more than my share of the Tim Tams disappear.  They were simply fantastic.

I've known some marathon runners who did it.  You wouldn't think that something as soft as a shirt could become abrasive, but apparently...

You Lie! I was pretty much brought up on industrial food and those biscuits from a can (especially the kind with layers, and the kind the call croissants) are heaven. A zillion percent saturated fat, perfect for those artic winters.

Put some butter on those biscuits and some home made strawberry jam and that's about as good as it gets.

Then of course there's always creamed rabbit stew served over biscuits.

Ok, now we're talking food too much and I'm getting hungry.  That and thinking about finding some new places to hunt now that I'm moving.

Rabbit fricasee and biscuits. Rabbit hunting is fine... deer hunting was too much work, though I like venison.
