I think there was some interest previously regarding the D&D Portfolios?

Rare : Lot of 4 vintage 1981 TSR D&D Dungeons&Dragons Folders/Portfolios

These look like they are in really good shape.

Best regards,

Thanks for posting - I hadn't seen a pic of the interior of one before. They have the TSR "Face" Logo on the inside pocket.

The cover sheet is genuine, and the product was genuinely sold by Paul, but without photos of the manuscript and real information, I'd be giving it a miss. You have no way of knowing the MS on sale is the same MS that was sold by Paul, has all it's pages or has been picked a part by the previous owner, or isn't infact a reproduction of the original MS with a genuine cover sheet.

For that sort of money I'd have expected NKG to have put one of their seniour staff on handling their listings rather than their regular ignorant wage monkeys.

Genuine (NKG selling on behalf of Kynan), albeit the original purchase from Paul was in contravention of eBay rules - i.e. that second chance offers should be for the same item (a duplicate copy) as the one won by the highest bidder. Discussion over on ToT somewhere...

Has been listed several times now, at varying prices.

So this is not a genuine manuscript but a xeroxed copy of a manuscript? I didn't see that in NKG's descrption for their $2000 item. In fact, Noble Knight Games says it's the original hand written manuscript.

How'd you come to that conclusion?

It was a question.
Faro mentioned a 2nd chance offer on the original sale.
The qiestion then is, is there one manuscript? Is there two manuscripts with an original and a copy? Or was it a case that the original buyer decided to withdraw and the 2nd chance offer was made to the underbidder?
I was just seeking a little transparency seeing as we're talking about a $2K manuscript here with no disputeable pedigree.
Maybe Paul can clarify the situation?

What is/was Kalibruhn?
It sounds like a setting-based supplement like Blackmoor was.

Makes me wonder if there were other supplements in the works when TSR transitioned over to AD&D.

Sorry, you seemed to think faro was implying that the "second chance" sale was for a photocopy; I didn't take him to mean that at all (though I'm not sure, as is often the case, what he did mean :)).

Yes. This was RJK's setting (where the original El Raja Key dungeon was located), and my understanding was that he was working it up for publication as another OD&D supplement on the order of Greyhawk or Blackmoor, but for whatever reason I'm sure someone else can elucidate, this never took place. It might very well, as you say, have had something to do with the transition over to AD&D. One could speculate that it might also have had something to do with deadlines ;). (note: El Raja Key is the "third castle" of NTRPGCon's "Three Castles Award).

Greyhawk, Blackmoor, El Raja Key?

*nods* But there wouldn't have been significantly more of the /setting/ in the Kalibruhn supplement than there was of the Greyhawk setting in that supplement.
Which is a pity given the original maps and other material for that top-down creation of Rob's.

Eh... try http://tomeoftreasures.com/forum/viewto ... 2512#12512 (which also explains the Kynan auction blocking situation), now that I'm hopefully back for a few hours: the original notes are probably of greater "value" from a research perspective.
And, to reiterate, the genuine article as-sold by NKG on behalf of Kynan.

Having seen most of that one, it's interesting to see how far it parallels what's known about the first iteration of Greyhawk Castle.

Interesting, but perhaps not really very surprising..

Indeed! :)

The chute to China was still very dis-orientating, though, given where /that/ one was last (stated to have been) seen.

Handled in backwards fashion by Paul, in my opinion.  Still stinging over that DHSD auction, considering I had Kynan beat but couldn't get a signal on my cell phone while standing on a roof top in Puerto Rico trying to place my bid.

Yeah, I recall that one well: sad way to lose out given how high you had to jump and the contents/context of that particular dungeon. :(

I've always been fascinated by that transition period.

So the 'original MS' for the setting was sold, and a similar undisclosed (at the time of the auction) MS was then offered to the underbidder as a second chance offer?
